Title: Jayrodadon's Planning/WIP
Post by: Jayrodadon on Jan 19, 2016, 11:58 PM
Good day!
So I'm working on building armour again but this time I'm not just going to be whipping up something in a month or two. I'm planning on a Modern Era, but I'm changing the helmet up slightly for shabs 'n' giggles.

Here is the armour colour planning using Mando Maker
(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv22/Jayrodadon/mANDObUILD01/Untitled_zpsrtn87kxl.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/Jayrodadon/media/mANDObUILD01/Untitled_zpsrtn87kxl.jpg.html)
The black may be changed to grey.  Still tossing my head around that one.
In fact I may change the colour scheme later. LoL

And with the bucket I've altered a pepakura design I found online.
(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv22/Jayrodadon/mANDObUILD01/12512812_10153144750791991_6188107744575255850_n_zpslvaz8blu.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/Jayrodadon/media/mANDObUILD01/12512812_10153144750791991_6188107744575255850_n_zpslvaz8blu.jpg.html)
I may still add a Cody Visor, not positive yet.

I'm planning on a light/medium armour scheme, (picture one knee pad and on the other leg the shin guard).

Any input peoples?

Looks great! I'm in awe of people who do pep helmet builds, I don't have the patience for that. I like your plan and colours so far, I'm a big fan of multi coloured plates.

I've recently read a build that had one shin plate, one knee and an app team member said it was alright. Looking forward to seeing this build progress- let me know if you need a hand with anything. As I said before- if you're going the sintra route, just let me know; we have plenty here.

Wow! It sure has been a while!

So yeah, I'm still here.

Started making the gauntlets using a Kotan Pepakura build
(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv22/Jayrodadon/20170415_085625_zpsbanm0lb9.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/Jayrodadon/media/20170415_085625_zpsbanm0lb9.jpg.html)
(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv22/Jayrodadon/20170415_102528_zpsst9c87lp.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/Jayrodadon/media/20170415_102528_zpsst9c87lp.jpg.html)

I used Fiberglass Resin, followed by Bondo
(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv22/Jayrodadon/20170416_194935_zpszehpn9v8.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/Jayrodadon/media/20170416_194935_zpszehpn9v8.jpg.html)

My old Pepakura helmet gave too many problems, (wouldn't stay in place, wrong era, etc,... thanks Zophar for straightening me out on this in time to fix), so I switched my attack plan to modifying my old Rubies Jango Fett helmet
(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv22/Jayrodadon/20170418_163438_zpsowct8ctz.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/Jayrodadon/media/20170418_163438_zpsowct8ctz.jpg.html)

Gardengeek stitched me up a denim vest which I covered in leather patches, (I like this look a lot and have two vests covered in this style as well already).
(http://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv22/Jayrodadon/20170418_163458_zpsurrdrhxl.jpg) (http://s666.photobucket.com/user/Jayrodadon/media/20170418_163458_zpsurrdrhxl.jpg.html)

So this is where I'm sitting right now.

looking good, if you click the first button on the left on the second row, it's insert image, then put your url between the tags that appear, it will embed the photo, but it only works one pic at a time, not for albums I think.

Looking great! Love the design, and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your build.

Always a fan of designs with the Cody visor.

Last piece of kit finished. Ended up deciding not to go with cloth for a cod piece and making a proper one out of sintra.

More work in progress.

Weathering on my soft parts, (sounds so dirty  :P).
Foam backing on chest diamond so it doesn't recess between my pecs anymore.

Sorry for the link only, apparently this site doesn't like mp4. (?)

So I was told to weather my cape more, and since I've already burned, ripped, painted, and sanded it, I drove over it a few times.

I was also told to weather the stitching on my vest due to it being too bright. Problem is I used dental floss for strength, (and I like the look of black leather and white stitching), and due to the waxy nature of dental floss, I couldn't use the recommended "tea bag" method of weathering, or many other options. So I just drew over it with a jiffy marker.

Personally, I like the "patchwork" nature of your stitching as I'm firm believe that your armor shouldn't just look weathered, but repaired and maintained. Are you still using the same blaster or have you upgraded since?

Thanks for the compliment about the patch work, that means a lot.  :)

I'm using a different blaster for the app process, (Westar 35), however I do have a sniper rifle which I now realize has been posted every where but here yet so I shall remedy that now. 🤪

I was asked to reduce the bagginess of sleeves, trim plates, and switch footwear as mine appeared to be sneakers.

Here's the sewing job I did, (I didn't trim the excess fabric due to lifting weights and looking to the future, I hopefully will need it)
