Title: Bowfanny does a jetpack-temporary hold due to breakage.
Post by: Bowfanny on Oct 10, 2016, 03:16 PM
Okay Folks,
I've have my kit official going on two years come March 12th 2017 and have actually put my kit in for a second go at app after I lost a bunch of weight and had to rebuild. I purchased a jetpack body from an awesome Vode that goes by Malice Skirata (http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=18615). Now being the OCD Guy that i am I love the base pack but wanted to take the add on parts and really make them snazzy, Here comes the Rafal Fett-Works 3D files for the vent, the thrusters and thruster greeblies, and the "piece de resistance" the Z6 jetpack Rocket/grappling hook, as well as the tank toppers and bottoms.

Not a lot to really look at at the moment but for a really lightweight JP and the additional lightweight printed parts I should be able to troop for the entire day with this thing on my back. My next step is going to be getting the rest of the parts printed as well as getting the bondo out to cover the fiberglass base where it's showing through. Did I mention this is my budget build as well... because it's hopefully going to come in considerably under normal JP build budgets.

There are updates, I've just not uploaded the photos yet. Majority of the parts are printed and glued together for the ones that get glued. Spot putty and some filler primer are gonna be the next steps on the printed parts. Once they're smooth I'll attach them and smooth the seams.

Nothing too spectacular at this point.

Basically all the big stuff was printed in two pieces and then super glued together. The prints are at a layer height of .2mm so they're fairly visible. My printer can print clear down to .01mm thin on layers but I'm impatient and would rather bondo the layers away than wait for days for the parts to come off the printer.

Impressive......most impressive
Cool colours, the red reminds me of a Beast Man figure

Lol the ref is actually translucent so if I were to put a light in it it would glow like a sith saber lol. The colors are merely the filament I buy because white is so boring.

I've already been printing Darth Maul saber bits with it.  Lol or in the case of the pieces being doubled as Ray staff pieces...

No idea if it's possible, but it reminds me of Han being released from carbonate

If I had the files to print Han I'd totally make a lamp out of it for a carbonite wall!

What's involved with creating the files

They're available on Thingiverse so they've already been created. Only thing needed now is printing lol

Wonder how you could do one the looks grey until you turn on light then
It looks like han is thawing out
Interesting idea, I'd like a Han in carbonite

I have an idea that might be doable. Krylon has a mirror finish paint that might be a good place to start. I'll have to test the validity of the idea though. Maybe with a scaled version then moving up to full scale.

Sounds interesting, maybe a transparent grey, then plastic piece, bright red led behind it

If this works we might be upping our game as far as props that are interactive.

Maybe an electronic guru could design a circuit so it starts out dull then brightens, or pulses
Give it a go, set a new standard vod

I love that this has gone from "Bowfanny does a jetpack" to "Bowfanny makes a Han in carbonite FULL SIZE"  If you are able to pull that off I will be seriously impressed!  And jealous  :P

yup, I am currently attempting to convert a hasbro clone trooper helmet into a more realistic and screen accurate helmet.  Then after that I want to make an Xwing pilot helmet  ;D  So I am definitely staying busy

An xwing helmet would be cool, I got a Luke skywalker xwing pilot for Xmas one year......one of best presents ever, may try a swing pilot build soon

yup, sadly it probably won't be a 501st approvable helmet since I am using EVA foam and a baseball helmet.  I really like the jetpack build so far!  I want to remake mine to look somewhat like the Proto-Fett pack.

I still need to finish the small details for the Awing helmet and resin it to send out.

Feast yar eyes on some well needed updates! I had to reprint some stuff as the scale of my pack compared to the scale of the printed parts that were made for a full scale pack didn't fit. So they're being sent to a new home while I get down to business with the new parts and after 7 hours of printing I had 3 minutes of gluing and now I am again waiting for printing to finish on the next piece.

Thanks Vod,
The blue caps were supposed to take 8-1/2 hours to print but they came off in 5-1/2 hours instead for some reason they printed quicker. I'm printing a stabilizer and the beacon for redness too at the same time I'm working on other stuff because those files are tiny and print pretty quick.

No lighting but I've got a Bluetooth wireless speaker system ready to be installed once I get the pack reinforced. We're talking rechargeable battery pack with two 6" speakers all powered by arduino and created by one of my awesome Ruus'Alors.

Space jam music and the score to that star fighting series of movies is nowhere near as annoying as those ghost busters. But mine has adetachable rocket that doubles as a handle spiked club if they get rowdy.

I'll be picking this beast back up soon and pushing to get it finished despite the breakage. My intended use for it got damaged and no longer works so it'll just be a hollow build and quick finish hopefully.
