Title: Vez's WIP
Post by: Vez Nau'ur on Sep 16, 2013, 06:33 PM
Hi guys,

I apologize in advance if these questions have been answered before!

So Iíve been going through the forums but not all my answers are answered. So Iím working on planning my first armor (Modern era armor), and here is what I have understood up to now.

1. Research (Materials, soft parts, etc)
2. Sketch/design colour scheme (Online tool for colour scheme can help)
3. Gather materials (Flight suit, sintra, vest, etc)
4. Print out Jango armor template  and cut it out
5. Stick armor template on shirt, take picture and get feedback from community
6. Once template is approved, cut out pieces and mold them to fit your body. (??? How to do this, molds?)
7. Attach molded parts to vest (Velcro?)
8. Repeat step 5,6 and 7 for gauntlets, pants and boots.
9. Paint
10. Weathering
11. Finish with Bucket (seems to be the most complex part)
12. Build weaponry
13. ????
14. Verify that modern era approval guidelines and make adjustments if necessary
15. Apply for Mando Merc approval!

Feel free to either tell me to continue searching the forums or link me parts of the forums! ;)

Where I am very confused, is in step 6. How do I figure out what is the correct shape of the pieces? I saw someone on youtube use a plexiglass mold where he would heat up the sintra and just press the mold on it until the sintra cooled down. How do I go about making these molds, or is it just a fancy/advanced method for giving the shape to the sintra?

I also decided to go with sintra since it seems a lot of you recommended it to others, but what about the thickness? I got the impression that 3mm is fine and dandy.

Besides my confusion on point 6, am I on the right path? Sorry if this sounds redundant, as an engineer, I tend to really make sure my planning is good before starting anything ;)

Thanks!

a lot of people make a mold of their torso using duct tape then stuff it with rags, then they use the duct tape body to shape the plates, there is a tutorial on here somewhere instructing you how to do this but i cant find it at the mo, good luck with your build vod, it looks like you have done loadsa research, thats the best start you coulda made, and you can always ask questions :)

If you use Sintra you can easily form it by heating it up and then pressing it against your body. I heat mine up either in boiling water or the lowest temperature on my oven. Other people use heat guns.

It's really easy to work with and one of the most popular materials. If you use sintra I would recommend to get it at least 3mm thick. Any thinner and it's ridiculously easy to snap.

Another popular material is metal, though it is significantly harder to work with. You'd have to ask someone who has made a metal kit how to form it, though from my understanding there is a lot of banging on it with a hammer.

Edit: It's helpful to wear a sweatshirt when you form the plastic to your body, as it is a little bit toasty. It also helps to have 3-4 people forming the backplate if you do it all at once.

These are some great answers! Thanks a lot guys! Once I'm done with my planning and Gantt chart, I'll make a WIP thread and start updating it.

Much appreciated!

This.  Lots of this.  Not to mention throwing it in a table vise and leaning on it.  It's hardy work, but worth it for appearance and strength.

I'll keep that in mind, but probably not for my first build. Once I'm more comfortable with the process I'll look into it, any specific material you would recommend for metal? I'm guessing aluminium or steel (For future reference for me).

That looks like a great Plan vod ;) looks to me like everything is there ;)

Niabi top tip ;)

I would combine 9 and 10 ;)

so when painting do your weathering ;)

I was thinking the same actually! Building up my Gantt chart and design document so I'll clarify those steps in that.

I actually have an additional question, regarding the bucket. What would be a good method for making one for a first build? I don't see myself doing a fiberglass cast due to the lack of skillset and space (I live in a small apartment on the third floor).

Thanks in advance :)

Well if you wont to scratch build then card is a good base but you have to fibreglass it to be used on your kit.

a scratch build can end up being the same price as a pre made one ;) (I recommend a Saz bucket)

Great to know! I think for my first build I'll go the simple way and ask Saz (I do want to show off the my beskar by next years Comic Con) , but for future builds I'll try to develop the skillset required :)

Its not as hard as it looks ;) BUT it can go wrong very badly very quickly  (i speak from experience)   :-[

My first kit was made from sintra, and it looked great.  My current project, however, is out of steel (16 ga for torso, back, and shoulders, 22 ga knees, 24 ga shins), and I find it relatively easy to work, mainly because it's more or less what I do for a living.  It can, as previously stated, go really wrong, really fast, so practice a bit first.

Saturday I'll post an update, it's when I'll be working on it! School has kept me busy lately :)

Title: Re: First Armor Planning Help
Post by: Vez Nau'ur on Nov 10, 2013, 05:34 PM
Hey guys!

So I know I was supposed to work on this on Saturday but I was overwhelmed with school work and I just got a brand new guitar.... it was mostly the guitars fault.

Anyways! Worked a bit on my bucket, but I didn't take any pictures of that. I will once I attach the ear pieces and prime it.

However I did put a coat of primer on my pieces that are cut. Tact told me I would spot any mistakes on the armour once I prime it and I think I see what he means, but I'm still new so I might have missed some subtleties. The mistakes that are really evident is on the back plate, on both shoulders and in the middle of the neck section, i.e. the places where I had to glue together after bending the armour. So I'll go ahead and continue with some sanding.

So here's the photobucket album, I took quite a lot of pictures which mostly are for documentation on my end but if anyone spots anything I'm all ears! :)

Photobucket: http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/library/Primer%201st%20drop (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/library/Primer%201st%20drop)

Oh and if you spot what looks like a finger smudge, I'm fully aware of those ;)

Kinda forgot to repost with proper pictures, sorry! But I got an update! Finished painting my bucket. Still need to install the RF stalk and do some paint touchups here and there, but for now it looks like this :)

Comments and suggestions appreciated of course!

Wow

You've been busy, great job it's got a lot of damage  ;D

Two thing I'd recommend, first do a black/brown wash over the helmet to give it a worn/dirty look several thin coats are better than heavy coats, second I'm not a fan of gloss finishes so I would overspray it with a clear matte but that's just my taste.

Keep up the nice work.

Hey Tact!

I actually spoke to Droodles a bit and he recommended the same thing. Though I'll do some wet sanding to remove the gloss. I'll go get some acrylic paint on my way to class today, I'll post an update when I have one :)

An alternative to wet sanding that will be less abrasive but will remove then shine is to rub it with 0000 steel wool.

I also recommend hitting the bucket with some light passes of sand paper to give them some "life lived" scratches before the black / brown wash ;D

Hey guys!

Sorry for the silence, been busy with finals  (almost done), but I decided to take a small break and do my black undercoat on my chest pieces! :)

So here we go! I'll be doing a gray coat maybe tomorrow, and then add some green patterns. Comments and suggestions are as always welcomed! I also decided too much of a heavy weathering as with the bucket.

Loving the positive response! :)

I'll be working on my backplate over the weekend, thinking of doing a green pattern similar to this one but in reverse.

That, or three isosceles triangles similar to these which span from the top with the points going towards the bottom. With the one in the middle a bit longer than the side ones. I'll have to see what looks better in drawings :D

I'll have to do something nicer with the hexagon center piece, it looks a bit bland for now.

I'll keep you guys posted!

my 2 cents - negative version of the front for the back plate and the diamond I'd cut a rectangle groove in it and detail the middle, kinda like a dog tag

Also, considering adding the Mythosaur in one of the bottom corners.

I don't want to influence your art/concept, but I would remind you that your collar will line up with your backplate, have you considered continuing the design you have on the collar towards the back?

Perhaps a couple segmented stripes?

No no! Go right ahead! I'm an engineer, not much of an artist! This is also why I want second opions ;)

I was actually thinking of adding slight curves on the chest pieces but now that you mention it I think continuing what I did on the neck plate towards the backplate might be a nicer idea. I like the idea of segmented stripes though not sure how you see it in your mind. I came up with something like this:

Tact offered a suggestion and I think it has merit, what do you guys think of this? It still follows the app I did on the collar piece like on the second design I had. I'm honestly not sure what I prefer more, but I do find this to be more, uhm, logical when it comes to alignment with the collar piece.

V-pattern is superior.  The "bordering" approach will look off once you shape the plate to conform to your back.

Also, the reason why there is so a high concentration of weathering on the shoulders, is I remembered from my swordsmanship (Katana) training, when we rolled on cement to avoid a sword, we would scrap our shoulders quite a lot, so I figured that idea that would be appropriate on the backplate :)

the weathering on the back plate is pretty good, your right in thinking you need more wash , though saying that, the scrapes in the green layer alone look a little manufactured, possibly writing of some sort, sorry :(.

Paint apps look great! Scratches and weathering look real nice, I like how you did layering, and scratches, I do agree that it will need a couple layers on brown wash to give it a worn/used look but so far it's coming a lot very well.

Hey quite alright! I'm far from expecting on getting this nice and professional looking on my first try! This is why I want the opinion of you guys :)
Any specific points on the backplate you want to point out that I should watch out in the future? I think I see what you mean though.

I think for now I'll keep it as is, and next time I see you in person I'll bug you a bit on helping me make the wash better looking? Thoughts? I'm kinda afraid of putting too much and messing it up!

Mainly where scratches over lap  mainly, low grit sand paper or pick at it with scaple will sort it out

Wash wise liik at where there could be a build up of dirt, around arms base etc, the places that can't be easily wiped down on a battle field when still wearing it

Nice work vod ;)

the important thing with Weathering is that the whole Kit Matches the level of weathering ;)  so if you leave it as is (and i see no prob with that) then as long as the level of Weathering on is the same over the rest of your kit your good ;)

Working on my shoulders and knee pieces but ran out of grey paint. I'll be getting some tomorrow and I'll work on those during the weekend. However, I found these in a military surplus store, which I think I'll use for my kit! :)

Awersome! :D

So here's a little update, I worked on my knees and shoulders. The knee's I'm still debating if I should add a green layer on it, and if so, if I should go with them all green or do a small pattern. Also, I didn't build the knee pads, Tact did so thank you Tact! :)

I'll be working on my cod piece and gauntlets soon. The gauntlets I'm going to try and 3D print them once my printer arrives. Otherwise, on these current pieces I just posted, anything I should change/add/remove?

Thanks guys!

Hey guys!

Approval question real quick. So quickly, backstory on this. Some friends wanted to see how to work with sintra so they came over and we built something quickly. I ended up doing a Tanto (Japanese dagger/knife) style weapon and was wondering if something like this would be approved with my kit? It's very "Earth looking" so I'm not sure. Then again, not thousands of ways to make a knife ;)

This would NOT be my primary weapon for approval, more of a prop thing. Also, as mentioned, this was VERY quickly made so I took some shortcuts and I would make it a bit nicer before sticking it on my kit.

A stabby thing is a stabby thing, and we Mandos like stabby things.  I'd remove the twine wrap and go with leather/ pleather, though.

Hey bud, nice up dates!

I recommend you add a thin piece of Sintra around the inside top edge of the knees to add strength or at least on the sides, they are weak around the small area that connects the front with the sides, if you drop them on bend to far you could snap the Sintra if they aren't reinforced.

Ah I recall you mentioning that when you gave them to me. Duly noted, I'll be picking up some 3mm sintra soonish so I'll do that when I get it.

Thanks Tact!

Alrighty! It's been a while since I posted, been somewhat busy and sick so things got on a standstill. Anyways, I just recently acquired a 3D printer and I designed this for my kit. The symbol in the middle is the Gaht Kyr'bes Clan crest which is the local clan in my area.

This is still straight out of the printer with only a bit of sanding to remove the print lines. Still need to paint it and all :)

Thanks! They're getting pretty cheap nowadays, you can find some at 300-400$. Mine with shipping, Canadian duty and 2kg of plastic, came out to around 1500$. Which is pretty decent and I can use it for my robotics club at my university. And prop making of course :)

I'll be printing out my gauntlets and some weaponry with my little baby. Then it's just a matter of getting my vest, a couple other soft parts and I should be able to send my application for becoming an OM. And some more brown/black wash :)

Hey guys, small update!

I just 3D printed my right gauntlet! I forgot to include the cover piece in the picture but it's printed out. This was printed in two pieces, which is why I have the huge ugly crack in the middle of the two pieces. I'll bondo that quickly once I get my left gauntlet printed out.

I've welded the two pieces together with some acetone mixed with molten ABS plastic (a.k.a., ABS Juice). I'm still not too sure what i'm going to do with the 5 small holes, maybe find some switches that can fit in there and stick in an FPGA or two. Could be fun to control some LED's on my bucket or something like that. I'll have to experiment with PCB sizes and all.

Anyways! Vez out!

I really can't wait to print out the next one but I'll have to wait until next weekend. It is a 14 hour print afterall. I've already started to bondo this one a bit and it's already looking much nicer.

I actually have a question for you guys. Been looking on how to attach my cod piece and I've been wondering how you guys do it. For myself, I was thinking of riveting the piece to a belt and supplement it with a sash to look nicer.

I'll just drop this here... (HA! See what I did there?!)

Had some spare time so I quickly made a thermal detonator. It's far from perfect but for a small prop which people might not pay attention to the details it'll look fine. Added a red LED powered by a 3V BIOS battery and 180 ohm resistor. Now to find a way to hook this up to a belt!

I'm also currently printing out my left gauntlet, once fully sanded and primed I'll post up the set.

Alright. small update again.

Left gauntlet is printed out, and I've started applying bondo a bit everywhere on those things. I also happen to have some spare particle board so decided to make a verpine rifle. Though now looking back it maybe I should use MDF instead... well, we'll see how it turns out.

Also, I started printing out a DC-17 :)

They're pretty light but definitely heavier than Sintra. Top it off, they were made with ABS plastic which is already lighter than the other kind I usually work with.

Also, a really cool thing with these is the cover snaps in. Won't need any piano hinges or magnets!

And here's my 3D printed DC-17! I think I might want to redo the paint, it messed up at some points. Otherwise, comments and suggestions are welcomed as usual! I'll be working in my gauntlets this weekend, just need to sand down some of the bondo and maybe add a final layer and they'll be ready to paint :)

I also got the material for my vest, so I'll work on that as well.

You can ask Rav Sta'Is here on the forums to print you some, she's the one who did the original 3D model for them and uploaded the files for anyone to download. I modified them a bit for my size and made some other tweaks so the credits (and potential customers) goes to her :)

Heya vods!

Finally got around to paint the gauntlets, here's how they look. I still want to add a stencil on them, thinking of putting the mythosaur on one and maybe some sort of handwritten phrase or kill marks on the other. Not sure what colour I would do the stencil, was thinking of a purple.

Otherwise I'm looking around for some switches and buttons that will fit in these.

So here's the overall set:
(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0252_zps9c1e0ccd.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0252_zps9c1e0ccd.jpg.html)

The left gaunt:

This one looks pretty nice. If you closely look at the darts you can tell they were 3D printed. I tried my best to remove the print lines without much success. What I think I might do to make it better is make 1 really good one and then make a fiberglass mold of it and just do it that way.

(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0258_zps05394049.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0258_zps05394049.jpg.html)(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0253_zpsb1b38f7a.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0253_zpsb1b38f7a.jpg.html)(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0259_zpsf80abbe7.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0259_zpsf80abbe7.jpg.html)(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0257_zps0ded92de.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0257_zps0ded92de.jpg.html)(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0255_zps7c0e0c01.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0255_zps7c0e0c01.jpg.html)(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0254_zpseaf762d2.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0254_zpseaf762d2.jpg.html)(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0260_zps187891fe.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0260_zps187891fe.jpg.html)

The right gaunt:

The right has a few flaws in it... one of the major ones is during the 3D printing, there was an issue with cooling and the plastic warped. I managed to hide some of the warping, but you will notice that the cover isn't flush with the rest. I was thinking of re-printing it but then someone pointed out that I could pass it off as "bent" metal for a 3D damage type thing? What are your thoughts on that? The other major flaw is the flame thrower nozzle on the right is slightly higher than the other one. I might just go and sand it down a bit but it is driving me absolutely insane.

Looking good! I agree you might want to find some button or switch greeblies to put on them. The print marks don't look too bad (to me) but if they're bothering you then more power to you trying to get rid of them.

I may be contacting you about a set of those darts for myself BTW.

Thanks guys!! Gonna be working on my cod piece once I find a decent belt, it's in essence the only part missing with the vest. I ordered some leather and I'll be putting my old leatherworking skills at work to make a custom thigh holster for my DC-17 and maybe some other leathery things. Still working on that Verp, printing some custom parts to make it look nicer, just a matter or time really.

My kit is almost done! Can't wait to have it fully assembled! :D

Oh, and Tact, I've been playing around with the dart printing, I've gotten some better results. I'll try giving an acetone vapor bath to smooth out the print lines without sanding, if I get good results I'll give you those :)

Woohoo!! My leather sides came in today! I got a couple other side projects for these but I'm planning on making a nice thigh holster for my DC-17. I should be able to draft the pattern this weekend for it. Thinking of maybe also a custom tool belt for hydropsanners and such, we'll see how much space I have left on my body once the kit is assembled.

Also, I'll most likely make a nice rifle strap for the verp... which is coming along nicely...

(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Leatherworking%20Stuff/DSC_0273_zps30bf96ac.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Leatherworking%20Stuff/DSC_0273_zps30bf96ac.jpg.html)

I'll be picking up some PVC piping on Friday to make the barrel. I have a few ideas in mind for what I want to do, but I think a cut out barrel with a longer smaller one inside with a flash suppressor pattern on it. I'll see how it looks on Friday, I might post up various designs/arrangements and see what you guys think. However, I'm most likely going to make a slightly longer barrel than the one on the template, we'll see!

Vez, out!

Alright! So I didn't get to do all I wanted to do today since I managed to cut a sizeable part of my thumb off... so this will have to do. Hehe.

So first off, my cod piece! Simple green, nothing fancy with a bit of black wash. I riveted a belt to it so I can attach it. Once I get some of my other soft parts, the buckle in the back should remain hidden.

(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0304_zpsd0bc8329.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0304_zpsd0bc8329.jpg.html)

(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0305_zps93080cfd.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0305_zps93080cfd.jpg.html)
(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20V1/DSC_0306_zpsa8627305.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20V1/DSC_0306_zpsa8627305.jpg.html)

And my new Verp rifle. I had to redo the entire thing since the wood I used broke on me. So I borrowed Kelan's idea of doing laminated sintra. So the body is made of 4 layers of 6mm Sintra whilst the side and rail support are 3D printed pieces. The barrel is just a simple PVC pipe I got from the hardware store. Still a few things to finish up on it. For one to remove the "made in china" on the scope and the other is I was thinking of adding a brown pleather handwrap around the grip and maybe shoulder stock, just to give it an additional look. Also, the Mythosaur was done with a 3D printed stencil, seems  to work quite well! The strap I used is from an old bag, so it looks a bit weathered and looks good. Though next time I'll use some smaller C rings, they look kinda klunky on this... I am honestly not entirely happy with it, lots of mistakes and flaws that bug me. So I will end up  remaking it when I get the spare time but for now I think it should be fine to apply as an OM with this.

I was thinking of finger grooves but I think I would need a drill press for doing it properly, I don't see myself having the dexterity with a spade bit on my drill and keeping it straight. As I mentioned, I'm planning on rebuilding the Verp, I'm far from happy with it.

And I totally forgot to credit you for the cod piece! Sorry about that Tact. But yeah, you did some good work there, I had only the easy part to do :)

My suggestion for the verp would be to ad some grebs to break the outline up. It looks well build but a little flat if you get what I mean.

Oh wow, I never noticed you mentioned this. I get what you mean and I'll definitely take that into consideration, I got a couple ideas I'm playing around with.

Though for now I'm concentrating on finishing assembling my kit... and I'm up to this point! So I finally got fed up to try and make a vest and ordered one from K'raam.

 (http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20Update%201/DSC_0325_zps18eff255.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20Update%201/DSC_0325_zps18eff255.jpg.html)

Only thing I find inconvenient with this is the zipper is on the back, and it makes it very difficult to put on by yourself, though I've managed to do so. So here is the jumpsuit I'll be using:

(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20Update%201/DSC_0323_zpsa645f85d.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20Update%201/DSC_0323_zpsa645f85d.jpg.html)

Though I do find it's just a tad tight around the crotch, but otherwise the legs and sleeves fit me perfectly.

I've manage to put both the jumpsuit and vest on (I didn't have my tripod for a selfie) and it fits... though the vest feels maybe a bit tight, there's not much loose. Hopefully this is not a problem?

(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20Update%201/DSC_0326_zps45a34b65.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20Update%201/DSC_0326_zps45a34b65.jpg.html)

And while I was at it....

(http://i835.photobucket.com/albums/zz274/calvinference/Armour%20Update%201/DSC_0328_zpsfd4962b5.jpg) (http://s835.photobucket.com/user/calvinference/media/Armour%20Update%201/DSC_0328_zpsfd4962b5.jpg.html)

I spoke with Kelan a bit about a cape to break up the dark colours a tad and I'll be going with a colour scheme similar to that of Boba from ESB. I'll be getting that soon. I also added some more blackwash on the chest/back pieces as it was recommended though you can't see it too well in this picture, but they do look much nicer!

I'll be bolting down the knees and shoulder pieces during the weekend, and I'll wait till I meet the OM's the weekend after to help out aligning the chest pieces before I commit the pieces to bolts. My kit It's almost done!

I'm also looking for some hunting trophies to add to the brown belt and some additional props. I do intend to add some D-rings on the brown belt as well and I need to figure out how to hide the buckle from the cod piece belt.

Approval pictures soon! Hopefully by next weekend :)

Though I'm looking at spacing here and I was wondering if this would be too low for the next piece? I'm a bit worried since my backplate comes up pretty far on my shoulders and I'd really rather not have to cut things!

Yeah I had the impression it would be too low. From what I'm seeing from other pictures it should really go and "strangle" the neck?

So I decided to be smart and pull out my duct tape mannequin... how about this? Though I have the impression it's about the same spacing as before but I have a bad eye when it comes to distance.

So here's a little pic that Kelan took of me last week.

Now then, I'll keep this post as my on-going WIP since I have loads of modifications and other things I need to fix. Here is a non-exhaustive list:

- Make holster for DC-17
- Remake Verp Rifle (I'm unsatisfied)
- Make Shin plates
- Make tool pouch (for Brigade app)
- Make various Swarsy tools (for Brigade app)
- Make Jetpack (In progress)
- Remake Backplate (for jetpack)
- Fix Knee drooping
- Make Gauntlets V2
- Add tubing to gaunts

Well it's been a while since I last posted. So here is a small update! Been working on some new weapons, I got my hands on a Hasbro E-11 and got myself a conversion kit to make it all nice looking! I also started working on a small virbroknife heavily inspired by Mavik's post (http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=79255.0). Thinking of strapping the thing under the E-11 and make a bayonet style! The E-11 also will be set up in a way so it doesn't appear to be a standard issue Stormie blaster :)

Finally, I might be getting an arena style jetpack so I'll be modifying my backplate accordingly and add a strap system. The next thing I'll be doing is making a thigh holster for my DC-17. After that! I got some nice plans for a new set of  Gauntlets and a little something extra (keeping it quiet for now) ... hehehe!

Also got my name change to my Mando's name :)

Jetpack is painted! Just need to add the straps to attach to the backplate and It'll be good to go. Next thing on the list, tool bag (for Engineer Brigade) and holster for blaster pistol.

Thanks Kelan! Though I think I might want to add some more blackwash, but I just can't seem to get it like how you have it on your kit (or Tact's). I'll try to play around with that.

Did you put the bottom vent sideways on purpose?

Yeah, but I tend to like asymmetry. Though in this case I should have left symmetrical. I can always change it later.
