MacGyver, yes! You should start carrying around peanut butter and pine cones. You might need to mike a tiny bomb to unlock/blast open a door at some point (and yes, that was in a real episode).  :P

I'm Try to keep the Weight to a minimum , so I still believe it's Manageable .... at present ...

My Vest Takes most of the Weight anyway ......  ;)

Got Some more Greeblies installed & started attaching the Thruster nozzles ..

No Muss No Fuss ..... I had Some Large Headed aluminum Screws . 1/4 20 I think ?
Cut directly across from the Hole supplied ... ;D  The PVC Tube is thick enough to catch
a few threads if you preheat a bit first .... but if your careful you can do it Cold as well .

I have some big Nylon Thumb turn nuts that came with the Screws so I could put them inside the
Tubes if I ever Strip them out .. Well See .... Here's where She's at .....

Thanks , it's Coming along ..   ;D

I still have a Second layer of Bass Wood to do .... This will Close off
any gaps that you see in the Skeleton layer. I will miter the Corners and Bevel the Edges
back . This Should give a more Defined edge with a thicker base to add Damage later .

I will most likely Brush it in Resin a few Times then Bondo / Spot fill as needed ...

I'm Still Debating the Wiring & lights ..... Maybe at a Future Date ...

All I can say is 'wow.' And I agree with everyone above; you are the Mando MacGuyver. If I wasn't committed to making a Sirus thruster plate, I'd probably go for this.

A little update :

Started prepping the inside for Resin.

Removed the Tubes for more work room.
I sprayed some Adhesive on the inside, then
laid in some F/G wall patch. This Stuff comes with
a little tack to it out of the Box but I like a little insurance .

Tomorrow I'll give it a Good coat of Resin inside and out.

My only concern is the flat back.  Is that going to sit well on the back plate?  Unless I'm mistaken, the other jetpack kits have a slightly contoured back.

Got it Covered ... No worries ...  8)
The Back of the Jet pack that you see here isn't the entire Back.
Those are just Covers ...

I've taken a piece of 5" PVC and made a Attachment panel as well .
I made a pattern then Traced it on the Tube. After that I cut the Tube
and Heated it then flattened it out ... pretty much .. It's got quite a bit more
shaping to be Done to it but it will work fine eventually ..  ;)
I will then Combine the two pieces and give the Back plate it's Curve.

Too bad the Back plate weighs 2lbs alone ...  :-\

It does look more impressive now.

You do ?   Problem is now , I will most likely loose the Back cubby hole
until I retro fit it to work with the New shape .... which is probably not going to happen
right away now ... oh well .... I'm not really worried about it ... I'll just "Mush On" and see how it Goes.

Update .... Some paint made it on .... But not a lot .... I'm still working on the Colors
but it will come around ....

2 lbs? Maybe you could find a thinner material to shave some weight... Why not use some 3mm Sintra?

2 lbs? Maybe you could find a thinner material to shave some weight... Why not use some 3mm Sintra?

So .... this is interesting .... thought I'd share ...  ???

Earlier this week I called a local Plastics Supplier to get a price on a Sheet of 3mm Sintra.
I was Quoted $55-60 (by the Idiot on the phone) for a 4'x8' sheet.
This is way more than I remembered so I said 'No thanks' ...  :-\

I stopped in Wednesday to look around at other possibility's ... I was Told they don't cut
sheets down unless you Buy the Whole 4'x8' sheet , and since there were
no Decent free scraps to be had , I left empty handed ....  :(

Just to be Different I had my Wife Call today .... I gave her all the particulars of what I wanted.
She played stupid and directed the Conversation into just what I wanted.

When they told her that it only Comes in 4'x8' pieces , she Told them that she only wanted
half that much ..... They said ' no problem ... We will sell you a 4'x4' piece for $20.00.
She paid for it over the phone .... done Deal .
They will have it Ready to pick up at noon on Monday ....  :o

Wait till they See me there to pick it up ....  :P  This should be interesting .

Made a Few Changes ...

Since I'm getting a Huge piece of Sintra I'm going to add a Strip
to the Top of the Body and give it a lip , then Add the distinct Dental molding.
But it Will be of a Ward Arms Design , this is not a Replica .... just inspired ...

This is Shown by the Pattern in the pics ...

Also because I'm Redoing the Whole Back plate , I will be able to Reclaim the
Cubbie hole with the Greeblies ..... This makes me Very Happy .... I know it's
not a Very highly seen area ... if it's ever Seen bu the public at all would be a Stretch .

But Realism or Believability is a Must at this level of publicity the Mercs Shares with the World .  8)

Ohh .... I also added a Stripe that will mostly be sanded off in the Future weathering ... & Corked the Thrusters ... literally .

Fully Strapped :

Utilizing the Same Clips as the polar pack .
Simple Strap (Crossed) and attached to the Center Tube.
I have a built in height Adjustment that I'll Show later ...

Checking the Height : Still needs to Come up a Bit I think .
I will adjust it when the Real Back Plate is made and installed.
Here it is with the Cardboard template in place .

Thanks Guys .... I wrapping it up for the Most part ... Other than the Painting of odds & Ends & Weathering .. the Bulk is Done. :-\

Today I installed 1 of 3 Turn fasteners that I found ...  ;)
they are for Tarps on boats and Stuff,  but will Work perfect here as well ..

I made a length of Sintra and Shaped it to my Will ... Then attached the piece.
It will not interfere with the Back plate at all ... It will serve as a Belt after a Fashion ..
Not to mention the Ease of Taking it on an off ... Halloween will be the Test run ...  :-X

More to Come ... Thanks For looking ...  8)

than my Hoth pack So it Should be Fine ....

Have a good one,
