So I'm looking to build light armor, with shnees because I like those.  Hoping my build will be suitable for infiltration/aquisition specialist profession.  Here's my basic color scheme, I will weather and add urban type camo to it.  This will be my first kit, which I'll try for OM and Brigade status :)

I started making my vest pattern from lightweight scrap material, it might be my liner to the duck cloth

cut out

darted and sewn - but my duck cloth vest will need a bit more on the sides to connect properly.  good thing I'll overlap it to make the lining fit inside.

Started making a vibrodagger from wood, will add plastic/metal to finish the sides. Using the wookiepedia example here

Modding a Mauser C97 pistol replica - adding front grill, barrel shroud, and optics on top.  It won't look like Han's DL-44 but a variant.  I don't have pics of that yet.  Picked up 2 colt jr sized plastic toy guns to mod as holdout blasters.

Figure I'd make a climbing hook & rope with an eye bolt, toggle bolt head, nylon spacers, and some paracord.  It should turn out like the stormtrooper rope Luke used in ANH.  Got a small lexan piece I'll make a slimjim, chisel knife with wirecutter/saw on it & a few "lockpicks".  My friend is getting a laser cutter which will enable me to laser etch lexan to make bomb AF datapads to slice into door panels.  I might cut a few more slimknives from lexan as throwers or "throwaways".

climbing gear (needs to be painted black)

and shiv, slim jim & lockpicks

I'm keeping the black visor because I shouldn't need a rainbow/mirror visor to see in the dark or infrared.  I'll have a small flashlight in my tool kit and presumably optics under the visor anyways.

I have a pouchbelt with D-rings to attach my climbing hook, and I'm velcroing a black goatskin leather kama to the back portion, so it can quickly release if need be.  And I made a 4' thick girth belt of black tool leather, with a saddle buckle.  That should be in the back under my back plate or covered by my cape.

my belt and kama - zippers will be replaced by velcro

Any comments or suggestions?

I got a 30mmx30mmx10mm fan 130mA draw, connected to a 9V and it works!  That'll be my first helmet electronics.  Haven't been brave enough to cut into my helmet yet, I may need adult supervision  :P

Tapered my flight suit legs, tried darts on my trial run vest.  I should make attempt #2 on my vest this weekend.  If I can find where my batting went I'll make my neck seal too.  Still undecided on my final armor pattern, I know it'll probably be a custom legacy bit, so I can strap it on over my vest like IRL armored vest.  Pictures once there is progress.

SO I printed up the JF templates and think Large size fits well, except the upper edges prevent me from closing my arms.  I'll edit in a picture of that in this post.

I apologize for the placement, I was at the end of my tape roll & it wasn't sticking very well.

My alternative is to base a chest plate off the SWTOR TH-15A Corpsman armor as shown:

Here's a picture of the sizing on me:

I left the large JF collar plate on for reference.  Both times my left hand is pointing to my belly button.  You can't see it well, but there's a V-shaped bend at the chest, where my Iron Heart is penciled in 1/2 above and 1/2 below the bend.  This is not my flak vest, just a leather vest turned backwards to place context for my unfinished flak vest.  Both the collar and chest piece would be raised up about an inch in the final placement, this vest wasn't cutout well for my neck. But with this style I can raise my arms and cross them in front of me.  Would it be approvable or need some sort of separate ab plate?

Jango templates look like they fit you pretty well, but if you're having trouble moving your arms all the way you can try going down a size or trimming the edges a bit.  The Boba templates might work well too.

For the other design, I'm not familiar with SWTOR, but unless that design is mandalorian and *maybe* falls into the crusader category, I doubt it would be approvable without modifications.  Your best bet is probably to ask an app team member what you would need to do to it to make it approvable.  That being said, sizing looks to be pretty good, and everything will need to come up a bit as you've already mentioned.

Also, great work so far on your vest and accessories :)

Generally speaking, a majority of SWTOR armor -must- be the generic mandalorian armor that is constantly worn by NPC's. This may have changed recently. I'm also unsure but if memory serves i'm fairly certain that you're also able to do Armor based on Characters, during that time frame and it'd fall under the Canon/Legends category (I.E. Shae vizla ).

Also, it could just be the pictures but the Flak vest (The leather jacket one..) looks incredibly wide and may need to be trimmed down. I'm no expert and it may just be my eyes. The sizing on the plates looks to be good though!

If you want to do Tor mandalorian armour then you will need to stick to the Crusader era CRLs, you cannot mix era's.

For the modern set, I'd say the vest needs tailoring - hemming back at the armpit and possibly a small dart so it shapes to you better. For the armour, the width looks about right, possibly needs a tiny bit off but it's hard to tell with the wide vest, but the height is a little short as the collar needs to go up half an inch and the ab could do with going down half an inch. I'd use a size down template for the width and a size up for the height and make up some custom templates.

I thought I mentioned it wasn't my real flak vest, just something more solid than a t-shirt to tape my templates on.  It was just a leather vest I wore backwards so I knew that wouldn't be fitting correctly.

That's a great assessment for modifying the JF templates, I will be making adjustments for sure!  And I didn't exactly want TOR mando armor, just like a tribute to its design but still in modern.  Guess even that's not allowed?   Bummer.  Armor party on Sunday should keep my adjustments within CRLs.  Thanks for the input!
