WIP EE-3 Pistol
« on: Nov 27, 2020, 01:00 AM »
Working on my first kit, started on my blaster tonight. Took an old kids EE-3 Carbine, cut off the stock and most of the kid sized handgrip. Replaced with a bigger grip from a Nerf Roughcut.

Next steps are to sand down the rough edges, then fill in the gaps & screw holes with bondo.

Welcome any thoughts or constructive criticism.

Thanks!

Next step completed.

Used 2 part epoxy and a screw to hold the new handgrip to the remaining section of the blaster handgrip.

Today used bondo to fill the gaps between the new handle shell and the blaster as well as a first pass on the screw holes.

Ultimately the handle will be painted woodgrain, and the rest of the blaster black with silver distressing. Waffling on the handle if I should leave the existing texture or bondo and smooth out the whole thing.

Have continued to fill in screw holes. I cut the lip off the handgrip that was used to attach a slingpoint, not necessary for a pistol. Filled it with JB Plasticweld and rounded it off. Trying to decide if I want to leave the scope as is, chop it down, or remove it entirely.

Current state

Cut down scope

No Scope

i think shortening the scope will make it look like you cut the back of the rifle off

Finished filling the screw holes with JB Plasticweld.

Used strips of sintra and plasticweld to create the missing fins on the barrel where the manufacturer had put a warning plate

Used bondo to smooth out the handgrip

Base coat to see where I need to go back and fill/sand. After the touchups will pause and make the holster, I want to wet form the leather to the blaster and do not want to mess up the final paintjob. Pretty pleased with the progress so far.

Finished the base coat of black and the woodgrain paintjob on the handgrip.

On a whim I whipped out a vibroknife using some paint stirrers I had lying around.

Both weapons still need weathering and sealing.

Blaster finished, on to the holster and pistol belt next.

Great work on this mate. I have a pair of those guns, and this is very inspiring.

Thanks Vod!

We did have two (I have twins) but one was lost in the course of play, otherwise I would have made a Jango style rig ;)

Here is a link the the Imgur post where I have been trying to outline each step of the build https://imgur.com/gallery/1vdKv6B

For the woodgrain I used this technique (I run a Weird West LARP and have used this extensively on our Nerf guns) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuXPUwZGIUo&feature=youtu.be

Best of luck with your build!
