Alright, so I have two standard blasters I am currently using for my kit but I had the urge to wander on in to a Dollar General earlier today. I am glad I did because they had a pretty solid sale going on. So I ended up finding and buying these 3 little guys for only $15. I was mostly interested in them because they came with some pretty nice look scopes but one can never have to many blasters right?

I was thinking of making the bottom right one into an EE-3 but outside of that I don't have any ideas. Any ideas on how to mod them to be more Star Warzy?

That rifle is well on its way to being a Verpine Shatter Rifle, that DEagle could be a nice heavy blaster, but would need some extensive mods.  The other pistol is based on the Volcanic Repeating Pistol, which inspired the Winchester rifle's design.  I know a guy who made an airsoft one into a really sweet blaster, but I don't know if he posted a WIP.

Scopes, random dials, magazines in odd places... Best bet would be to google the weapons of the original trilogy for inspiration.

Commenting for updates. I think you and i may have had similar thoughts with our dollar store toy guns Vod, I'm struggling with how to convert mine into blasters too. Will be good to bounce ideas around with you!

Bouncing ideas is always nice. For the D-Eagle I was thinking maybe something along the lines of Boba's concept art from 1313. Making it spot on might be a little difficult without cutting it down to the handle but it might be somewhat doable to base a concept off of it:



As for the Volcanic pistol... I again am pulling from Boba Fett from 1313 as this blaster might have a similar shape already:

i can see where you are going with those. The deagle concept would probably need a fair bit of scratch built parts to work with, maybe some sintra wraps over the top of the slide to accommodate the size of the barrel?

hard to tell with your second image, were you just thinking a barrel extension and then side mounted scope?

For the deagle, it might be possible to simply cut a slot out of some pvc (could be done after the entire cylindrical portions of the blaster are complete aka all the tube sections) and slide it over top of the existing barrel actually. This is only in theory as I haven't spent much time contemplating what to do with these as I have been focusing all my time and revamping my existing kit armor pieces and scratch building that jetpack.

For the volcanic appears to be fairly simple. The custom barrel extension could be done in similar fashion as I mentioned above along with adding the side mounted scope as you said. Assuming you own the same one, the tricky part is that if we simply slide some pvc over the existing barrel an end cap will need to be attached to hide the current barrels just chilling inside the new piece.

I see where you are going with the Deagle. I had in my head that the scale was different but with the right size tubing it'll work well. Is there a separate barrel inside the slide to guide your placement? that'd make life much easier.

I don't have the same pistol as yours but a similar revolver. One of the issues i'm facing is that the cheap plastic is very flimsy so i have concerns about strength when i start adding barrels and scopes etc, how is yours looking for strength? It looks to be fairly thin so i see no reason why some extra plating above the grip and some greebs wouldn't help hide a new barrel?

Unfortunately there is not a separate barrel inside to guide placement; it is one solid piece.

Yeah, this one does not have the best plastic either but I would imagine that can be remedied by adding some support sintra on the outside since the sides of the main body are flat. Or, if yours has a slot on the top like mine, you can always fill it with spray in foam or bondo to give it support but also add a realistic feel to it. Adding the plating to the sides would also help in making it look like all one congruent piece but I was talking about when looking down the added barrel you might be able to see them if an end cap or something isn't added... or I suppose to layer a piece that barely fits over the existing ones and then a larger, shorter one on top of that.

I've got some thoughts on the endcap/barrel cap issue that I'll detail a little bit tonight after work/gym(someone please heckle me if mention anything about avoiding the gym? Yeah? Cheers!)

I am sure if you figured out casting that there would be plenty of demand for your 1313 carbine. I was looking at MDF and it is not as expensive as I was thinking it would be... I might have to try that out at some point and building something from the ground up. Until then! I got these 3 dudes to play around with and if all else fails, I could always attempt to use them for other costumes or gift to friends ha

Any way, we were talking about barrel endcaps/barrel caps right? So my thoughts are really super simple that might be a touch fiddly to pull off. Basically i'm thinking you'll need to either insert something inside the barrel to emulate a focusing thingo/projector whatsit/pew pew pointer piece, like a smaller barrel inset a few inches back in the new barrel, for me that seems like the better option as it will also give you a negative space behind the 'insert' that you could use to reinforce your pistol base and barrel?

... OR cover the end all together but this has the disadvantage of potentially just looking like a cap.

Smirk, it's all good. A double barrel for the Volcanic seems to be the best way to go about it. Like you said, it would add extra strength as well and also a better look, depending on how it's done. Would be interested to see how it will look with a smaller barrel protruding out of the larger one but we shall see.

I have progress on the Volcanic Repeater. Check it out. Not entirely sure how I would want to paint this though: perhaps paint the 3 smaller pieces (the smaller end barrel and the 2 under barrel pieces) silver and the rest black. I have a dowel rod I will be painting silver or bronze and slotting in the gap in the lower portion. Thoughts?

Gotta fill those screw holes, vod.  Otherwise, not bad.  Could use a scope, though, and maybe a few more greebs.

Yeah, pesky screw holes... ha I actually added an off center railing along with a flashlight to mimic a scope plus a minor greeb but haven't figured out what else to add. I don't have a picture of it currently but I plan on taking one relatively soon and posting it up.

I also realized that I forgot that I was planning on attempting to somewhat mimic Fett's sidearm from 1313 with this Volcanic... so woops ha
