Alright, so my first attempt at applying primer to my bucket was a failure. The spray kicked up dirt, bubbled and dripped so now I'm in the process of stripping it all off.

I was wondering if anyone had a few tips and what they believe the best methods are to paint a bucket. I can supply pictures of my failure if anyone is curious. Any help is good help.

My tip would be do tons of thin coats letting them dry completely before continuing. It takes time, but it definitely is worth it

this may be a dumb question vod but you did give your bucket a good wash to remove any remaining mold release agent? also here's an idea for you for your embossed detailing if you draw them back on your bucket and then mask around them do a couple of coats with a slightly textured paint ( i recommend a fender touch up paint like simonize) it dries quite thick as it's a protective coating as much as it is paint but you can also put primer on top so it doesn't react with your top coat when you remove your masking tape the details will be raised and ready to go. just an idea.

I think the main issue was not doing it in a sterile environment. My next attempt will be done in my basement, and yes I washed her before trying out the primer coat.
