My Mandalorian Kit (TEMPLATES)
« on: Aug 16, 2016, 05:02 PM »
After quite some time (I was VERY busy.)
I am pleased to present what I think is a MUCH better template setup, although it has it's issues, like perhaps the belly being a bit on the long side, I think it turned out pretty good.
I will not be doing a cod piece, and will instead do a loin cloth, plus a free hanging armor plate.

Thank you for following the development of my kit.

That ab plate is WAY too long. As a general rule you want your ab plate to stop about 1 to 2 inches above your navel. Otherwise your other paper templates seem fine.
It is a bit hard to tell what is going on with your chest plates as they are taped down so close to your side so it makes sizing them tricky. But my gut feeling is they are also two large.

It is very common to have to use a number of different sized templates to fit a person for example I am 6'3 but because of my frame the plates that fit my chest the best are from the 5'9 template size.

Also I it is hard to tell because of the length of your shirt. But your backplate may not be hitting the 2/3 mark and easy way to make sure that it does is to just measure your back and make sure you backplate is at least 2/3 of the total sizes of your back.

I like the knee design it is interesting. Keep hammering away at it having a good set of templates will get your plates the right size a much easier undertaking as well as just saving you a great deal of time and money.

Best of luck with your build!

I like where it's going, but I'd have two sugestions for you to consider:
- spacing the plates. They seem a little to tight.
- cutting come of the bottom of the abs and reshaping them. I just felt paint, when imagined what's happening with those pointy bottom of the abs when you bent down to pick something from the floor. ;)

Agreed with the above, Plates should have a thumb width of spacing in between each of them, and I believe your plates are too large.

Much better. I'd start cutting. You may find you need to take a little bit off the outer edge of the chest plates and the backplate behind the shoulders - but best to get them shaped and spaced correctly before deciding on that as it'll be more for comfort than anything else.
