[Nano Rey'son]

Was working on a different  armor then decided to scrap that idea. That WIP is in my signature, but seeing as I'm now working on a Legacy armor, updating there and here makes sense.

So here's my progress so far. Sanding and cutouts are done, I should be shaping them tomorrow, then on hold till the Chicago screws come in. I'm keeping most from what I've done originally, but changing chest and back plate to legacy.

looking nice, loving the ideas coming forward. little advice as I am helping my brother build the similar kit, the plates need to sit a bit higher up about 2 to 3 inches on your chest. keep us updated!

Yeah, I was having trouble with the tape. Here's some updated photos. I know I have some more shaping to fine tune.

I think heating the ends of the collar and bowing it slightly in the middle, repeating the process with the chest and finally curling the ends and tucking them inwards would help a ton with shaping here and alignment. have you reached out to your local ruus'alor to help with getting things shaped a little easier? It is always a pain trying to do it all yourself.

Redraynos has good advice here vod.  That center crease will help everything sit on you better even though it means the very middle of the plates arent touching you, then bend the ends in around a piece of like 4 or 6 inch pvc pipe, and that should eliminate the air gaps.  You're making good progress, following with interest!

I have my original WIP on clan page, I just decided to scrap the torso armor idea and switch to legacy, but yeah, the clan mates have been great help as well.

I love your work, and the strapping guide! I've smoothed some of it last night, once I get a chance I'll post updated pics.  Thanks for the advice and encouragement!

Update from the weekend and AP: New paint job on bucket plus new visor. Back shaped with most screws in. Front screws in and primer started (pic heavy)

Question for anyone that can, I have the Pauldron patterns assembled from the Drake Legacy templates....is there a tutorial in terms of shaping and mounting?

based on the pics of them on Drake, I think crease at the center, right angle bends where the edge of the arc starts.  Bolt on to the top of the collars/first chest plate.  I never really liked the style of them, so I went a custom route, that I still wound up not liking that will get fully resolved on my upgrades.  Should be doing assembly work Wednesday if all goes to plan, so I'll post updated pics on my WIP here in the legacy sub forum if it does.  If not, I'll post pics later lol.

I cut shoulder pauldrons tonight. Work has been busy so always too tired when I get home.  Forgot to take pics, but still need to sand and shape. Some new pics testing out where shoulder straps will go.

Making progress   Right shoulder part of backplate needs a touch more shaping.   Adding straps to connect the bottom front plate and bottom back plate will tell you more about how much shaping reminds on the bottom part of the back plate.  Wish you luck on the shoulder strap situation, I am almost happy with mine finally... just a little more to go.

thanks. Yeah, I'm hoping to get the straps in this weekend and finish shaping. I'm still debating if I'm going to do a reinforced sintra shoulder strap from collar armor to back plate or just the nylon strap.

I also made the mistake on by chicago screws, so debating whether I keep it one big solid piece, or remove the screws add straps and bondo holes I made (right now screws hold the plates together)

Once you get the side straps on, wear it around the house for a bit, and see what you think.  I learned more on my first troop about what needed changing on my kit than the whole time I was building it.

My straps are mounted with Chicago screws, but I get what you're saying about having to then relocate holes.

I went with leather straps between my collars, and currently plan to leave them exposed. but may eventually cover with sintra.   Originally that space was covered by my shoulder mounts.

I'll start this off by saying...having a 7yr old take pics isn't always great :/
I still need the shoulder straps and shape pauldrons better and make sure back plate is adjusted good, but with that said, straps for front to back are in place and shoulder pauldrons are just about there as well.

after almost 2 days out of commission because I was ill (I guess I shouldn't have been outside in the windy cold working on my kit Saturday lol) I just did very little work. Got nylon straps in the shoulders.....but I have to figure out how to reinforce them. I'm not confident it will hold up

Try putting a washer in between the Chicago screw and the nylon strap. That will help spread some of the load on the strap so its not putting stress on one small spot.

Slight update, it's been raining a lot so when I actually have time to work on the kit, it's raining. However, in between I was able to primer and get different coats of paint and some weathering. When I get a chance to upload pics will do. Getting close to being done, just need some minor tweaks on soft goods

So, while I wait for guantlets, decided to take a pic with the minor adjustments i've made. I still need to perfect the leg wraps, I just can't them to sit right. Also, possibility of bicep, shin and thigh armor (or wait to upgrade later).
