Fauchard WIP
« on: May 14, 2019, 11:00 PM »

This is the beginning of my weapon build for a Fauchard Fork.  I am new and received so much help from my local Vhe'Rang Clan that I feel I have a great start on my first ever build.

I started with a 5 foot piece of PVC pipe cut in half then held together with a fitting for easy transport.  A more sturdy fitting will be 3D printed soon to simulate a hand grip.  A wedge was cut at the top for  the pole arm fixture to be attached.  The main piece of the fauchard (or fish fork as it became affectionately dubbed) was cut from 6mm abs plastic and smaller accenting pieces (3mm) will be molded to the pole arm for added durability.

I plan to keep it very simple with few embellishments, and will naming it Beviiragir (to spear fish)

Not bad, not bad.  I know that long pieces of PVC pipe tend to wibble-wobble, so your work around was rather interesting.

I made a halberd myself (based off the old family halberd that's been passed down through generations), using a inch-thick dowel rod and a piece of mdf board held together with two strips of aluminum and post-binding screws.

It was surprisingly easy to get to look aged (my first attempt involving paint that turned out to be textured - not a good idea...).  I just sprayed the whole thing with a couple coats of black, then while the last coat of black was still tacky, I added a light coat of a metallic paint so that the black and metal mixed just enough to get that aged look.  Turned out better than I'd thought it would.

I'd show pictures, but I can't seem to find them...

First round of painting done.  My son said he was going to get tetanus just by looking at it which I took as a compliment.  Next I will be adding a little more to the patina and then some damage and wear marks

I have to agree with your son.  Holy cow, I think my eyeballs have tetanus.

Nice job, I look forward to see how this ends up.

After some input and advice from clan members, I changed the look of my polearm. It will actually match my kit much better now. Now all I need is to clear coat it.

I have a pole arm in the works very similar to this for a future build I was planning very cool to see someone else using this idea as well
