This is almost done. I have a few minor details to add and paint and weathering.

Before I go much further, what do you guys think? Approvable?

I really really dig the barrel, not big fan of the handle. I mean, you should find a better way to put the two pieces together. This way it seems they are just glued. And you need a trigger. Handle and barrel are awesome, but you should put them together in another way. Personal opinion obviously. BTW, where did you find the cone for the flash hider? I'm struggling to find something like that.

It's not glued on, but bolted on via the round piece at the top.

As for the flash hider, I have very bad news for you. I found it and some of the barrel components (and the square rod that runs down the middle of all) at a Goodwill with no clear indication what it was. I bought it because of the shape. I think it might have been a handle on a rotissorie spit, since some of the barrel pieces had long, sharpened L-shaped metal forks sticking off of them (which I cut off).

Looking at it laying there, I think you are right about a trigger. Originally I was thinking that the button on the back of the handle (not visible) would be sufficient.  Grr. Now I have to find another found piece and figure out where to connect it.

They give off a strong Westar 34 vibe; as if these were prototypes before the blaster went into full production. I agree that a trigger would definitely give it less of a "water sprayer" look. To bring some continuity between the grip and the body, paint the plastic bits (including the grip) metallic. Weather everything and it might be good to go.

The design is very reminiscent of the Sandman gun from Logan's Run.

I finally got around to adding a trigger, and went ahead and made it spring-loaded for a bit of playability. The 'antenna' yes is an allen wrench, and probably won't stay there for membership, but it's the only one that fits the set screws and I don't want to separate them. This blaster is completely reassemblable. No glue anywhere.

The way it looks now reminds me of the "short range assassin's blaster"
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Short-range_assassin%27s_blaster/Legends

I really like the idea of it being capable of disassembly, like a tool that assembles from other bits. Just me but maybe consider that being a feature of the in universe description as well as a practical feature from a prop makers standpoint. Have it be like parts in a toolbox for sneaking on high value targets or covert infiltration or something. Not to cross fandoms but I seem to remember a disruptor pistol from star trek that was assembled from disguised belt buckles and other parts of a klingon character's outfit.   That said it may just be the pic but that trigger/knuckle guard doesnt look all that comfy to me. How much room do you have to get your finger in there?

I have always loved the Klingon smugglers disruptor even if it does seem opposite Klingon rites of honor.

The guard is a little too close (it was built first) and I might rebuild it. It was 2am at the time of the photo, so I decided against further metal work that night.

I hope to act as cosplay medic at some cons. My background is technical theatre, so emergency costume repair is a skill that I enjoy. And Mandos have the belt pouches to store the tools.

Hey another Techie! Me'vaar te gar?  I have a sewing kit I carry around at all times, just a basic sami setup of a piece of bone tube with a leather strap with some needles, thread and leather thimble. Its saved my shebs a few times both in and out of theaters. I share the sentiment of putting the pouches to use, to me if it looks pretty but doesnt hold some purpose its not really helping anything so I like to build little things like needle cases, survival kits, etc into things I build. I once had a helmet (totally unofficial) that had cannisters inside with basically anything anyone could need while on a con floor or further afield even.

Anyways thats enough rambling. Im excited to see how this goes because it really has that swarsy aesthetic and looks like it comes by it naturally (minus the ludicrously oversize unnecessary scope most blasters have)
