Legacy armor WIP
« on: Dec 09, 2019, 11:05 AM »

About to cut the plates out, just seeing if this looks a little big on me. I'm trying to go for the heavy gunner look. The paper templates aren't bent at all and when pressed against my chest there's about an inch and a half of room between the edge of the breastplate and my armpit

I'm no expert... I'll leave that to the App Team folks to weigh in... but they do look a wee bit wide on you, based on my experience in building Legacy. It's gonna be tough to cross your arms in front of yourself, if you don't remove some material.  ;)

The template I created was made for a large person initially (myself), with the thought that anyone smaller could reduce the templates via printer or PDF settings...you should be able to trim the ones you have down a bit without having to reprint them.

In my own opinion, I would say resizing the templates to cut off an inch or two on both sides. Rob basically said what i was going to say about mobility

This is how i did mine a few years ago

im 6' and my shoulder width is about 17-18 inches wide.

Just my opinion. things may have changed in the past couple years that i am unaware of

You might want to work that radius in the sides of the chest plates a bit, to make them match with the outer corners of the collar plate... it'll also make it easier to move your upper arms inward.

U ya ou may be able to roll the plates in towards you to give them a more defined and thicker look if that is what you choose to do, however, I second rob about the radius. It still looks a bit wide

Trying with the small set of armor patterns. Trying not to go too small with them, I'm 6'2 260lbs. I'm trying to go for a more heavily armored look like this, but able to conform to the CRLs

It looks like some of your picture links aren't working. :(

Mind you, those particular plates will not go around you in a way to show heavy coverage

The pic I posted was me at 6’1” 270 lbs

The legacy armor I have found to better cover is the Ronan armor in the links. It give better coverage and is easily modified to add additions to cover the empty spots if you wanted to make it look heavy

This is correct; these Legacy templates are designed for visually slimming a large torso, like my own, and not for wrapping around the torso.

It could be the paper templates poking up at the corners in the photo, but the outer top edges of the chest piece need to align with the outer lower edge of the collar plate...other than that, those look pretty nice on you. They are definitely heavy!

I think the tips of the chest that stick out past the collar is because the collar and back plate are scaled differently than the chest and abs. I had to scale down I think to 88 percent in order to get it right.

However, that is an easy enough fix to just trim them down.

Looks good though

Cut the plates and did a lot of the shaping

Taped together and hanging loose from my shoulders

From the back

Tomorrow I'm going to work on the harness and riveting the plates to it.

It looks like the back is too wide for your body...you may have to shape and  tuck it up tighter to your ribs.

Otherwise, it's looking good. ;)

Nice cutting and molding there! That back plate is still huuuuugge though. You'll want to bring it up so that neck curve sits right about where your shirt collar is, and it shouldn't go down too far past your lower back.
Does the front have a separate collar plate? Hard to see in the Pic, but you'll need that. How's the arm movement? You might be able to trim a little off around the armpit still, but you've come a long way from the start. Does the bottom belly plate end about at your navel? That's the goal there.
You've done great crafting those pieces, great clean symmetry. If possible you might want to add a little bevel to your plate edges, it'll help give them more of a natural edge.
