I've cut out the vest in suede. Pictures to come later.

For those of you into "Franken-patterns", I used the following:

All Simplicity patterns:

Base:
8480, view A

Front Neckline and collar
1558, Pieces 1 (front) and 8 (collar)

Sleeve Cap
2172, Piece 12 "sleeve flange"

I then made muslin with these pieces, made adjustments to fit, and then disassembled and have cut the pattern pieces out.

I am still debating on using clips or lacing on the sides. Clips are easier for wearing, but I like the look of lacing better.

I'll take pictures when I start putting it together.

I'm excited to see how yours turns out! And thanks for posting your franken-patterns, I wish more people leave detailed info on what they did!

I am still debating on using clips or lacing on the sides. Clips are easier for wearing, but I like the look of lacing better.

I went with lacing on the pattern you're using - ended up doing about 10 eyelets per side so I can lace it up securely. I was worried about having little tabs flapping at my sides

I had started with the Simplicity  8480 "Zoe" vest pattern, but it did not fit right. (I am not a fan of that pattern!)

I recut the front as one piece, then retrofitted princess seams.

I added the quilting using some leftover fleece fabric. If you want it puffier, use a double layer.

Here is my chest plate proposed cut lines:

I now need to cut my chest plate, and am debating between these two shapes:

Switched over to soft parts yesterday. Cut out the kama and pinned it in place. It needs to be lined.

I switched to brown on the flightsuit as the Kama is green and the armor will be more green.

(Ignore the width of the belt, it is just draped).

Debating on matching brown loincloth, the leather scale piece, or possibly using both.

I have a scale motif throughout this kit.

Ready for paint! Sanded to 1200

Finally got the courage to cut out my iron heart, and have started on my ab plate.

Also started on my scale mohawk

edit:

(Ignore the duct tape fasteners!)

Cut and shaped the ab piece.

Started on the collar pattern. It still needs a littl more spacing, and thinking about raising the collar a little.
