DIY SWTOR Jetpack tutorial
« on: Mar 29, 2020, 10:33 PM »
Hi all ,
I made this Jetpack to complement my Crusader KIt , this is my 3rd Kit and yet to be approved.

My jetpack is inspired by Shae Vizla and also from the SWTOR .

I don't have a template for this so I simply look at numerous reference photos .
It's not very detailed as my skill level is not really there yet   :'(
Only the back of the jetpack is 5mm sheet, the rest is 3mm to keep it light.

Apologies as some photos don't look the same , it's because I made 2 jetpacks at the same time.
So some photos was not taken on the same jetpack as I forgot but the construction is the same

The initial size was too big so I had to trim it so it's proportionate my size .
Best is to measure and ensure it's no longer then your  backplate

4" PVC pipes was also used. Length is 9" , this depends on your body proportion

3mm PVC sheet used for details

Cardboard was used to cut the curve to it lays nicely on the other PVC pipe

So it looks like this

I then use 2mm acrylic sheet  for the cover , trace the shape so it fits nicely

Cut a thin strip of PVC sheet and glue at the edge of the semi-circle
This is to prevent the acrylic from falling out

I also cut thin strips and glue the inside this area ....

Acrylic was use . I sanded it to give it a frosted look

Place the acrylic and apply glue lightly

\
I used a 4cm pvc pipe for the top  part, and trace the area I need to cut off

Just checking that the other side is cut the same

Then draw a straight line across the back of the jetpack

If cut correctly, it should fit. I then apply superglue

Using random stuff I have like a pencil sharpener cover  :P and cut scraps of PVC sheet to make details
Then apply Bondo on all seams  & gaps

I used rhinestones to make it look like rivets  :D

I then cut the back of the jetpack.  this is for inserting lights and stuff :D

Magnets was used to  attach the cover and hose is detachable and can be stored inside too.. YAY  :P

I use cheap bicycle lights and simply attach it with Velcro to keep it in place. ;D

Hooking of Jetpack & hose

Found this at a hardware shop which was perfect. Another alternative is to use a hook meant for  a wall fan

Backplate was cut to slide the hook in.  I use a metal ruler to  shape the slot. This is to ensure the hook slides in nicely

Inside of backplate is enforced with PVC sheet as well

Jetpack HOSE
I used a PVC joint and drilled a hole

And insert bamboo stick. The back is eva foam which acts as "padding" and the PVC joint can swivel so it's makes it easy to adjust the
position when it'sattached

Attach to the back of jetpack. A smaller PVC pipe was inserted inside the bigger pipe for hose attachment

Example 2

So this is my son wearing 1 of the Jetpacks

I'm not highly skilled and where I'm from , Resin , fiberglass are not easily accessible  plus I'm on a budget  :P
but I hope this steps can help those who are interested in making  one

No one knows what you have been through or what your pretty little eyes have seen, but I can reassure you ~ whatever you have conquered, it shines through your mind.

Thank you for the Step by step.

I got thrown into a Sarlacc pit once. Kinda like the other guy. The only difference is, he was lucky enough to go out the way he came in.  I had to wait at the other end.
