First go at a cape
« on: May 10, 2020, 11:16 PM »
Just a simple cape to go with my kit when it is done..

Picked up some lighter duck cloth at the mart of wall...5 and change for about a yard and a half...

Cut what i needed and i believe I behave enough for a kama shouldninlater decide that to be a swappable option..

Picked up red to match my armor accents...

First time using a  sewing machine in about   29 years..only doing top  edge amd right edge..ma6 come back to-do right edge ...

Threw on the stripe and the sigil  before leaving for work and some overapray
.needs more weathering and some .wear and tear

Will add more photos..dont expect this tp tale too long to do..  when i got into wprk tonight i dragged it across the ambulance bay for a while to get it dirty and some stains.. will do some more when i get home from work

I like it. I had to reread your last post... didn't catch the "bay" part of "ambulance bay" first time lol.

All in all about 45 minutes worth of weathering and damage.....15 minutes sewing..

I cleaned up a little of the  over  spray from the paint..
i dragged  through everything on the floor in the bay at work..

Sanded  areas with 80 grit sandpaper.

Folded or bunched randomly and sanded some edges.

Used the edge of a razorblade to scratch  up fabric and break up some.fibers.. scrapped some areas hard enough to wear through fibers to make some holes..

Sewn the other longe edge.
Left bottom edge unsewn and scrapped up ,dragged a little bit on the ground while stepping on it..

Washed it to loosen  up some of the stiffness of the fibers...

All in all im happy with it....

Next will be working on method to attach it.. it hangs and flows pretty nicely  and i feel will fit the kit pretty well offering myself coverage in multiple weather scenarios as well as coverage for patients in shock, cold etc even as a make shift covering for the fallen till they can be recovered .

I really like the weathering that you did with the paint.  It came out really nice!

Thank you.

I was fairly surprised at how well it turned out. I was nervous and a little hesitant  to weather and damage it as ive never tried before. And i didnt want to screw it up... when i was done and washed it  and hung it up i was juat like,  damn...that looks pretty good and  i kinda fell in love with the look and feel of it...lol
