Mercs "2010 Pig Bowl" Invasion Debriefing
« on: Sep 28, 2010, 12:21 PM »

Invasion Location: "2010 Pig Bowl" - The Dalles, Oregon (US)
Date: September 25, 2010
Clan Involved: Northwest Confederacy Clan
Mission Objective: Charity Football game between Oregon and Washington Law Enforcement to raise money for the family of Jessy Lyon. Jessy is suffering from a rare disease, so rare that only 50 children have been diagnosed with it in the United States.

Invasion Report: On a clear night, NWC Clan Alor’ad Tavrik Gannon along with members from Cloud City Garrison attended the 2010 Pig Bowl event. They were joined by event coordinator Curt Harth’s son, as a Jawa. The trio entertained the crowd with some skit antics and posed for photo ops, as well as signed autographs.

The guests of honor were brought by car, via police escort, to a cheering audience. The Jawa and the Merc exited their respective vehicles, as the Imperial crewman was flown in, via life-flight helicopter, to deliver the game ball to the ref. In good Merc fashion, the bounty hunter stole the game ball, at blaster point, from the crewman only to fumble it. The Jawa quickly came in to “scavenge” the ball away. Had it not been for the Crewman keeping the Merc at bay, the Mandalorian would have recovered from his fumble. The Jawa then delivered the ball to the ref to begin the game.

Yeah, it is. They do this every year, so I am always happy to lend my support. But then again, my step-dad was a cop, so any chance I get to support law enforcement, I am all over it. And when they are supporting a local family in need, that just sweetens the pot for me.

The only disappointment that I have is that this is the third year that I have been doing this and yet costumer turn-out always seems to be so low. I just wish I could light a fire under more costumers (and the other groups) to get them to pitch in and help. I just don't think costumers really realize just how appreciated we are. Every year, Curt outdoes the year before, in terms of support of us costumers.

This year, Curt spotted us with a hotel room to use as a dressing room. Had I not had to work the next day, I would have stayed the night, in comfort, and gone to breakfast with Curt in the morning.

It is my sincere hope that we can get more of a turn out next year. The crowd loves us, especially the kids! And the host family always appreciates our appearances. We try to give them small tokens to let them know that we are there for them. I gave Jessy one of the last clan patches I had, just because that has been a tradition that was started when I began doing this event. Every recipient of the Pig Bowl charity gets some sort of trinket, to let them know that we do care.

So yeah, I do this every year. So if any vode happen to be passing through town, around this time next year, be sure to show up for Pig Bowl 2011!
