So, this is the top half of my left gauntlet. Its going to be a data interface gauntlet, with a slot for me to slip my phone into for a screen (the wierd box in the pics), a key pad, a holocam, and a scomp. I would really appreciate it if you guys would chime with your comments, thought, opinions on this scomp.... does it look close enough, or do I need to re-think the whole thing? Keep in mind, there is some fine detail and a little bit of wiring I am going to add, I just dont want to waste my time doing it if its not even recognizable as a scomp.

I like it Vod I personal don't think your scomp needs to be screen accurate as it could be a custom one that allows you to override and normal Scopm

Very, very cool.
I especially love the left gauntlet.  You've hidden the cell phone beautifully, the holoprojector is a nice touch and it actually looks like a holoprojector, which is a plus!  It's all so clean and well made.  The compartment for the phone is just plain cool.
What kind of animation are you going to have on the phone?  I like the radar, to be honest.

Thanks vodes! I'm going to be making a display read- out in Mandoa. But tbh I kinda liked the radar as well... I was thinking about making an animation that switched between a radar and a read- out though.

how did you fill in the sides?

Not sure what you mean by "fill in the sides", the sides of what?

But I used sintra and pvc to build up areas and then a combination of epoxy and epoxy putty to fill gaps and shape contours. Hope that answers your question.

like what kind of epoxy? you were able to sand it?

The type of epoxy I use is a two part epoxy that you have to buy a seperate epoxy gun for. Its called Lords Fusor 143. Yes you can sand it, paint it, whatever. Its meant for cars. Its pretty expensive though, like $30 a tube, same size tube as most two part epoxys. But I haven't found anything this stuff won't stick togeather.

How long does it take to set?

Also how did you do the hinge?

Depending on temp (I keep my work room about 80 degree F) it sets in about 1-2 min and can be sanded in about 10 min.

The hinges on the sides are a continuios hinge I bought at Home Depot. I cut to length, marked where they would go on the sintra. I then removed the pin from the interior hinge by drilling out the tension bubbles they had pressed into the metal and replaced the pin with one I made from a wire hanger. Then used the same epoxy and screws to secure, the screws are the biggest reason the edges got built up to 12mm. I installed the inside hinge first, then pulled the pin and installed the out side hinge.

The hinge for the phone door are just 2 little 1/4" hinges I also picked up at Home Depot. I also epoxyed and screwed those in. A couple of the screws that went inside the phone compartment pocked through the sintra, so I used some epoxy putty to cover/ further secure those.

Thanks Vode! Its pretty heavy, especially on the outside. But with my flightsuit on the wrist is tight enough it can't spin. I do need to put a little padding in the back though.

I have finished building the right Gauntlet, and done a little modding to the left.

Top view- Data pad, screen (cell phone), holoprojector. I added a couple of buttons under the holoprojector, it just seemed a little empty there.
I am going to be making an animation for the screen, but until I do I have this radar animation playing on the screen
