I Just couldn't resist Doing another Set of Gaunts , it was a Sign .
Especially when Materials & Vision Show up at the Same Time ...  :rolleyes:
I found a Great Alum Pipe the other Day , So I Bought it .
 I Giggled all the Way Home . I'm Glad no one else was Riding With me .

It Sat in the Garage for a Few Days until I could make Room For it in the
Basement Work Shop .... it's 9'1 1/2 " long .
 I needed a clear path for it, So forgive the Messy Benches .  :-\

It's a 3" pipe So it will need Some Work to Get the Desired Dimensions out of it . ......
The only Draw Back is Material usage ..... But it's got to be Done ... ( I hate Waste  :( )

But that's much better than Where it Was Going when I rescued it .... The Scrap yard .
You See it was .... A SIGN ....... Pole ......   ;D









I made Some Quick Card Board Templates from my Toilet Brush Gaunt Bases ....... ( Another Thread )
I think I will Trim up the Card Board templates with a little more Wrist mobility this Time .
 This Shape fit my Wrists & Forearms Well So I kept it Simple ..... Make a Copy .

Sorry , I've Gotta Stay Busy ..... at lest until my other stuff is Ready,  I've gotta Do Something Constructive ...  :rolleyes:

I'm Tracing the pattern for the Right Gaunt tonight .
Maybe I'll even get some cutting Done before the Wife Gets home .
 Cutting pipe in the Basement with several Tools get's LOUD too fast when she's home ..  :laugh:

A little more done this morning ....

I Traced Pieces then Cut them out .

Then hammered them out to the Right Dimensions .                 \        /
You can kinda see it's wider toward the Rear of the Gaunt ......  \    /
                                                                                         
NEXT :  Clean up the Edges -
            Cut under lap piece - (Inside)
            Install Hinge -

My apologies for being a stickler for details....  ;)

You said 3" diameter which would be about 9.5 inches when flattened out.  Did you cut them to length, flatten them & them applied the curvature? 

Just curious as this is an excellent idea!   8)

That's a Fair Question

I'm a Bit of a Stickler as well .... That's why I had to Deal with a little  a lot of Waste .
However I've Devised a plan to get more use out of the Left-over Section of Pipe . So that made me feel a little better .

 No Flattening at all , That would Defeat the purpose of Using a Tube to me ....... I'd didn't have to Do much Shaping at all Actually .
 Just a little Rubber mallet action over my Closed Vice is all it Took . ( I don't have pics of that ....sorry )


 However to Get the Added material needed to Achieve the Taper I had to pass the Center-line .
 So in theory I stole it from the Bottom . I made my patterns from a proven Shape (Toilet Brush Gaunts)
Then only using the Top (or one side) of the Tube I cut 4 separate pieces . I didn't Cut the Tube Down the middle ,
  Rather cut pieces I needed from it instead .  This leaves me with a ultimately Tapered Shape once the Back end of the Tube is Widened . (Opened up)

So bucking the Notion of using a Tube for what it is , A top & A Bottom sliced evenly .
I transformed it into what I wanted from it , 2 tops & 2 Bottoms .

Here is the Carnage that is left behind .......  :(

I did mention that I figured out a use for them . They will be worked into the Gaunts Construction .

I will have an Update on these as Soon as I buy more Metal cutting Blades for my Jig-saw .
 It took 6 to cut what I have , I didn't see that Coming ....  :-\

Those look awesome ConDar....I used the toilet brush holder with aluminum plate to get the right opening at the back....That looks fairly think though, how heavy will the be when theyre finished?
