Finally got my Saz helmet (thanks). Just getting around to working on it now the weather is nice (no shed or garage to work in).

Here's the helmet:

Firstly cut the T out:



There were a few imperfections in this cast that needed a bit of filling. Dent in the back corner of the helmet (wasn't rounded) and the part on the T was flat (had a slight dent on that too).





Both sanded and looking well. Back needs a touch more filler. Front is fine.

Re--sanded and primed. Found a few defects in the Bondo I just sanded.





Added some battle damage with a modelling file.





Then re-primed.




Rain now stopped play.

Thanks.  It's coming along ok. Not having and indoor space to spray is slowing progress. Have to wait for nice days to do any.

Part I'm not looking forward to doing is the 'T' as masking it off will be tricky.

Next steps are masking fluid the damage, spraying it the base colour (Grey), masking again adding the black cheeks, then the T

There are quite a few ways to mask off tricky areas. I find applying masking tape (slightly de-tacked by putting it in your clothing first) and a sharp scalpel to cut the desired lines best. There is a low tack clear film available called frisk, it's brilliant so you could try finding that.

I've got a low tack frog tape which seems good. I'm gonna do a few trial sprays I think.

Finally got to work on my helmet again.

This means I finally found a grey for my armour. Turns out its Ford Polar Gray.



Added the black cheeks.



Masked of the T and kill stripes.



Peeled and looking good.



Dirty, DIRTY helmet!! All scratched and muddied up looking more authentic now. Just needs a clear lacquer coat now. Visor needs to be boughtabd added, and to sort the range stalker of course. Very happy how it's turned out.

Visor is now added. All that needs doing now is padding (on its way) and range stalker. I'm pretty happy with how this has come out. I had very little faith in my ability Rio get anything to look half decent. If anything I've surpassed my own expectations.

Finally getting around to finishing my helmet. Rangestalker all painted and fitted. Just needs top and ear cap gluing on. Then it just needs acrylic dirtying.

Works a dream. Just make sure you tape it correctly. I missed a couple of sections when I did the black layer. Ended up with two black triangles on the dome.
