I would be interested in info on the micro LCD and camera setup you used.
Good Hunting,
Vor'en
I hacked a Hot Wheels Video Racer. I took it apart, cut it down, moved around the components a bit and cut, bent and soldered a sheet brass housing around it. Brass sheet mainly because i had some laying around and the raw finish looks neat. It's about a half inch wider than the viewfinder that came with the helmet (HSP) but I think it's a fair tradeoff. It is charged via a USB port so I created a hole that looks like damage so I can access it. It does actually record, albeit the quality isn't HD or anything.
What did you use for your fan setup? I have long hair and I've been super nervous about this. But you're right it definitely gets stuffy in there.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EL938E6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00I bought these off Amazon. They look similar to a couple of the prefab kits out there. The fans are somewhat recessed and shielded, with a "squirrel cage" rather than a blade design. They might be a good option for long hair. I had long hair up to a year ago and I would use them if I still did. They are attached via HD velcro and are soldered to a basic toggle switch. Power is from a 7.4 Lipo using JST connectors.
