Alright, so I have two standard blasters I am currently using for my kit but I had the urge to wander on in to a Dollar General earlier today. I am glad I did because they had a pretty solid sale going on. So I ended up finding and buying these 3 little guys for only $15. I was mostly interested in them because they came with some pretty nice look scopes but one can never have to many blasters right?
I was thinking of making the bottom right one into an EE-3 but outside of that I don't have any ideas. Any ideas on how to mod them to be more Star Warzy?

That rifle is well on its way to being a Verpine Shatter Rifle, that DEagle could be a nice heavy blaster, but would need some extensive mods. The other pistol is based on the Volcanic Repeating Pistol, which inspired the Winchester rifle's design. I know a guy who made an airsoft one into a really sweet blaster, but I don't know if he posted a WIP.
Scopes, random dials, magazines in odd places... Best bet would be to google the weapons of the original trilogy for inspiration.

Commenting for updates. I think you and i may have had similar thoughts with our dollar store toy guns Vod, I'm struggling with how to convert mine into blasters too. Will be good to bounce ideas around with you!

Bouncing ideas is always nice. For the D-Eagle I was thinking maybe something along the lines of Boba's concept art from 1313. Making it spot on might be a little difficult without cutting it down to the handle but it might be somewhat doable to base a concept off of it:

i can see where you are going with those. The deagle concept would probably need a fair bit of scratch built parts to work with, maybe some sintra wraps over the top of the slide to accommodate the size of the barrel?
hard to tell with your second image, were you just thinking a barrel extension and then side mounted scope?

For the deagle, it might be possible to simply cut a slot out of some pvc (could be done after the entire cylindrical portions of the blaster are complete aka all the tube sections) and slide it over top of the existing barrel actually. This is only in theory as I haven't spent much time contemplating what to do with these as I have been focusing all my time and revamping my existing kit armor pieces and scratch building that jetpack.
For the volcanic appears to be fairly simple. The custom barrel extension could be done in similar fashion as I mentioned above along with adding the side mounted scope as you said. Assuming you own the same one, the tricky part is that if we simply slide some pvc over the existing barrel an end cap will need to be attached to hide the current barrels just chilling inside the new piece.

I see where you are going with the Deagle. I had in my head that the scale was different but with the right size tubing it'll work well. Is there a separate barrel inside the slide to guide your placement? that'd make life much easier.
I don't have the same pistol as yours but a similar revolver. One of the issues i'm facing is that the cheap plastic is very flimsy so i have concerns about strength when i start adding barrels and scopes etc, how is yours looking for strength? It looks to be fairly thin so i see no reason why some extra plating above the grip and some greebs wouldn't help hide a new barrel?

Unfortunately there is not a separate barrel inside to guide placement; it is one solid piece.
Yeah, this one does not have the best plastic either but I would imagine that can be remedied by adding some support sintra on the outside since the sides of the main body are flat. Or, if yours has a slot on the top like mine, you can always fill it with spray in foam or bondo to give it support but also add a realistic feel to it. Adding the plating to the sides would also help in making it look like all one congruent piece but I was talking about when looking down the added barrel you might be able to see them if an end cap or something isn't added... or I suppose to layer a piece that barely fits over the existing ones and then a larger, shorter one on top of that.

I am sure if you figured out casting that there would be plenty of demand for your 1313 carbine. I was looking at MDF and it is not as expensive as I was thinking it would be... I might have to try that out at some point and building something from the ground up. Until then! I got these 3 dudes to play around with and if all else fails, I could always attempt to use them for other costumes or gift to friends ha

Any way, we were talking about barrel endcaps/barrel caps right? So my thoughts are really super simple that might be a touch fiddly to pull off. Basically i'm thinking you'll need to either insert something inside the barrel to emulate a focusing thingo/projector whatsit/pew pew pointer piece, like a smaller barrel inset a few inches back in the new barrel, for me that seems like the better option as it will also give you a negative space behind the 'insert' that you could use to reinforce your pistol base and barrel?
... OR cover the end all together but this has the disadvantage of potentially just looking like a cap.

Smirk, it's all good. A double barrel for the Volcanic seems to be the best way to go about it. Like you said, it would add extra strength as well and also a better look, depending on how it's done. Would be interested to see how it will look with a smaller barrel protruding out of the larger one but we shall see.

I have progress on the Volcanic Repeater. Check it out. Not entirely sure how I would want to paint this though: perhaps paint the 3 smaller pieces (the smaller end barrel and the 2 under barrel pieces) silver and the rest black. I have a dowel rod I will be painting silver or bronze and slotting in the gap in the lower portion. Thoughts?

Yeah, pesky screw holes... ha I actually added an off center railing along with a flashlight to mimic a scope plus a minor greeb but haven't figured out what else to add. I don't have a picture of it currently but I plan on taking one relatively soon and posting it up.
I also realized that I forgot that I was planning on attempting to somewhat mimic Fett's sidearm from 1313 with this Volcanic... so woops ha

So I did not like the look I had with the Volcanic based blaster I was making and decided to change it up a bit. This is what I have now and it actually fits the leather holster I had made for the EE-3 handcannon. Pretty pumped about it

I have done some more work on some of these blasters and made what I hope will pass for a Verpine shatter rifle and then a heavy blaster with an under slung grenade launcher (I think those are a thing in Star Wars?). I have a lot of screw holes to cover up ha. Any pointers/tips/ feedback would be great!

I modified the scope on the Verp a little bit more, added a few more greebs, and added the bit to the stock to make it look like the A300 stock the rebels use in Rogue One.

I also did more work on my heavy blaster/ grenade launcher. I cut off the grey rail on the back along with part of the body to have the stock stand out more. This also helps to break up the body profile more. I added some greebs to the body base, modified the scope, and also put the barrel in this time for photos.

Thanks vod! The base I used for thr Verp was actually a dollar store sniper rifle ha. You can actually see what it started out as on the first page, minus the barrel it had. Nerf has a pretty similar A300 you could mod. I will upload and post the picture of it modified to look more of the A300 version from Rogue One later today

No problem! More blaster updates. I have completed the Verpine shatter rifle from the dollar store gun base. I will be updating the viewy part of the scope at some point with a better piece that more resembles a real scope with a lens within the next few weeks.

I have begun to build a more realistic version of the Westar 35 carbine rifle based off of the one 3Dpicasso designed/shared on Instagram. Below is the base that I have been working from. I removed quite a few pieces from the original and added on some sintra body pieces, built a removable energy clip, filled screw holes, etc.

I'm going to maybe ruin your day and say that I think the Verp should lose the magazine or decrease it in size so that it looks less like a magazine and more like some unexplained in-universe part of the gun (you know, as Star Wars does) blended into the overall design.
REGARDLESS, everything here is dope and I want it all, you'd better be ready to share. :P Your mods are great. I know how much work you put into these. :) I can't wait to see what else ends up in your arsenal!

I was afraid of that actually ha The only reason I kept it was because that magazine houses batteries that power some sound effects in this bad boy (although I know Verps are supposed to be silent... but lay-persons don't know these things, they just like sound effects and lights lol) I will see if I can figure out a way to incorporate it better or trim it down some but still keep the battery integrity. We shall see
And awe shucks, thanks!! lol I can always bring some of these to share/display at the booth during Indy PopCon. :D

Updates on the BFG! Still working on a scope with some sort of contraption attached to it for this but here is what it looks like as of now. Built a scope for the BFG and the sniper rifle I am working on. Made it so that it fits on both weapon platforms so hopefully it works out. I will find out tomorrow once the glue dries.

Alright! So more update time! I recently completed my build on what I have dubbed the A310 S, I redid this build as I didn't really like the overall look of the first one, which is a variant of the A300.

I also built a sniper rifle for use at some point which started out as the Cabellas Big Game Hunter rifle. Which looks like the below photo. I found it at Goodwill for $4 and couldn't pass it up. I cut down part of the body, hacked off the orange barrel tips which I actually ended up making into the scope on the sniper rifle I ended up making out of this. I also cut off the bi-pod section

Thanks and that's a pretty good idea. I might have to run that by him haha in other news, I have been working on a blaster rifle based off of the one Montross uses in the Open Seasons comic.

It's really more of trial and error. When I first got into it, I was more just looking at reference materials and then just seeing what bits fit on other bits in order to make it look similar to what I was looking at. With a little bit of patience and a lot of greebs and miscellaneous parts - I believe you can do it do! Always feels free to ask questions :like:

No stranger to the same methods here :laugh: I just use deactivated airsoft stuff as my bases for work, since i have semi-regular access to them for cheap. And you just need to have an eye for what aspects of nerf guns to get rid of and what ones just need to be changed. I don't really have it lol.

Progress on some of the blasters. Had a little issue with the matte black paint on the chrome base. Seems like the problem was just accidently using too much at once without letting the first layer of black dry completely. So going to need to sand down parts of the blaster rifles and redo the black paint. Still need to finish up the scopes for the rifles as well.

Here are the blaster pistols with the painters tape removed. Will probably keep these mostly black but I am thinking of painting the raised grips on the handles a different color. Thoughts on how to finish these up?!

Those look fantastic! For a couple of my blaster projects I went for a hammered copper look for the grips. Something to make the blaster pop but without being specifically color matched to my kit.
