Title: My Mando - Completed But Not Finished
Post by: Hanjo Solba on Mar 20, 2017, 11:26 AM
Just received OM status so I figured I would throw my app pictures up here.  Still have many projects coming but I will update as I add things  :D

I need to get working to have a cool signature plate like many other OMs have.  My first troop will probably be in April so I will post some action photos then!

I like your kit! I feel like it could use some color below the waist. Maybe jango style shins where the middle panel is blue and the edges are off white.
And I love the carbine!

I agree, I am already trying to come up with something.  I am wearing gaiters in this picture but they are a little hard to see.  I was thinking of putting electrobinoculars on my one thigh and a knife on the other.  I was thinking of adding some toe spikes and knee darts as well.  I am trying to avoid shinnies and thigh plates.  I want to stay light armored.

Same here.

Shin wraps may add color. The toe spikes are gonna add some cool detail. How do you want to attach the E-binoculars and knife without thigh plates? I used a tac harness to avoid thigh plates.

hmmm... that is something to think about, I know the knife would look fine just looped to the pants but the E-binoculars would look weird.  That is something i am going to have to think of how to handle.  I do have a jetpack in the works so i really can't mount anything to my back plate.  I am open to brain storming.  I know another member of my clan is creating me a knife so that is something that i will be adding.  E-binoculars are proabably months out with the other projects i have

Congratulations!

Thank you!!!  My first time in costume will be at the beginning of April.  I walked around last Halloween but never at a con.  I am sure this is gonna be an interesting experience.   :D

Congrats on your killstripes!

Have you thought about gaiters that match your vest? That would keep you in the light armor category and add a little contrast to your lower half.

Thank you  :D

Is that possible?  The ones i have now are very old leather gaiters.  In person it is obvious they are worn.  I mean i am sure i could make gaiters out of fabric but that low on my feet may look strange if its not a strong material.  Do you have an example of someone that made their own gaiters out of a different material then leather?  I would be extremely interested in seeing how it looks.

Your Ruus'alor is an example.  On my main kit they're fur and duck cloth, mostly hidden by my shknees.  Any sturdy fabric like duck would do the trick... But honestly, I like the gaiters you've got now.  They can be reconditioned to look a bit less worn, or... just wear the kit for a couple years and the rest of it will catch up to the level of wear on the gaiters. :)
