Title: Accepted Mando Weapons/Accessories
Post by: aprobst15 on Nov 08, 2017, 10:19 PM
Hello everyone,

I am wondering what weapons and accessories would be accepted?

My idea is 2 blaster pistols, 2 lightsabers, gauntlet weapons, kneepad weapons?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

It is non-approvable for custom mando kits to have lightsabers per the CRLs. Only certain Canon character may carry them.

Per the CRLs...
"Lightsabers:
Lightsaber/darksaber hilts may be worn as trophies, but must be visibly damaged as to appear unusable. Such trophies must be worn or mounted in such a way as to not appear to be a functioning weapon.
No full bladed lightsabers/darksabers may be carried unless your character is portraying an *in-canon* lightsaber/darksaber wielding mando (i.e., Bardan Jusik, Kad Skirata, Pre Viszla)."

From the CRLs (http://mandalorianmercs.org/get-involved/costume-requirements/)
Quote from: CRLs
At least one weapon of Star Wars-universe style (not Earthly-looking). Nerf and other similar toy weapons MUST have labels/logos removed and repainted.
Manufacturer screw holes MUST be filled and smoothed. They must also be modified so they no longer appear “straight out of the box”. Meaning parts swapping, kit bashing, and the use of greeblies is required. Think “70’s future tech”.
Applicants must now provide 1 picture of their full weapon load-out when applying. Upload will be available on the application.

Mandalorian Pilot

Small sidearm is required. No bulky, lengthy, or heavy weapons.
Survival knife allowed, but not required.
Jetpacks are not approvable for pilots.

Basically, as long as it isn't a lightsaber/darksaber, and looks like it belongs in Star Wars(ie: no Type 3 Phaser Rifles), you'll be fine. If the base is something that's not from Star Wars (such as Captain Mal's pistol from Firefly), it can't be instantly recognizable as such.

swords and knives are usually good, as long as they don't look too earthy. like, i made a small dagger, but made it more manadalorian styled by adding a the diamond, and making the hilt uneven.

for guns, a good place to look is old WW2 guns, since that's what most guns in the original trilogy were made from. han solo's blaster was a modified german mauser. many other pistols are based on the german luger as well. and cheap, toy or airsoft versions of these guns are easy to come by. i got a pair of toy lugers for 3$ at a thrift store, and turned them into a pair of the same blaster jyn erso uses.

so just look around wherever you can! find toy guns, or nerf guns, and mod them up a best you can! have fun with it! just look at guns that exist already, and pick one you like to make, or study what makes them stand out from more conventional weapons, and create something from scratch~
