Title: Com pack concept + WIP
Post by: Kurz on Jan 29, 2018, 01:51 PM
Ok, my drawing skills are horrible, but i Made this concept of a com pack.

It will have couple of regular and flashing led, the satellite antenna will spin and there will be a bluetooth speaker whit comm sounds and chatter. Under the pack 2 proton grenades will be attached with magnets (each one with working leds when "armed". Would it work? Anything should be modified?

The main body will be a resin coated cardboard box. Then some electric material and pipes.

So, I decided this weekend will be the comm pack weekend. As i was too tired to actually work on it, i tried to figure how the electronics should work. I liked the idea of a spinning satellite dish, but when i build it (an old hacked mini servo and a battery pack) i realized that the continuous buzzing was pretty annoyng and it was looking too much like a radar, so i took my clone arduino nano.

I thought about using a potentiometer on the backpack but it would have been difficult to control. A potentiometer on the gauntlet would have been pretty cool, but expensive as i don't have bluetooth component and i don't like the idea of wires connecting gauntlet and backpack. So my final decision fell on a self orientating satellite dish, aka random rotation with random pauses.

UPDATE
This or a first test. The led is lighting for a random short time when the servo is about to move. Kind of "searching for working freq".

UPDATE
I decided 1 led was kind of sad, do i added other 3 leds. The Red one is always light, ad it was for "power". The green one is something like "working" and, as it was before, the yellow ones turn on just before the servo is going to move, as the green turns off.

If you want to get rid of that clicking noise, detach the servo and re-attach it again next time you want to move it.

So, I've spent most of my building time in my helmet, but finally i was able to build the main frame of my com pack, using 3 mm PVC
