In Memory of Remo Jadd
Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la
"Not gone, merely marching far away."
Remo Jadd lived for the Mercs. The organization was his home and its members his family. As a person who suffered severely from depression, the MMCC was one of the few things that made him feel valuable.
Remo was a no-nonsense kind of person; he gave you the truth, without frills, and expected you to accept it. He always backed up his arguments with facts and spent time explaining to people why they should make their kit a certain way. He wanted everyone to have a kit as good as his, and people knew that if he was giving advice, he had the members' best interest at heart.
Remo also loved the after-invasion meet-up where everyone would socialize. For a man with so many personal problems, he really became the heart of the Club from Clan level all the way to the Council. He had a wry sense of humor and a love of a pint at the pub, and he got along well with members from many different origins and philosophies.
The MMCC became Remo's life, and he talked with friends constantly about day-to-day club issues from kit improvements to Clan improvements, mentoring others or identifying people who would make good mentors. He became the Personnel Officer for the Council, at which time the friendships he'd formed along the way wound up being very beneficial for all. Many Council members found it very refreshing to have someone there who knew how the Club worked as well as they did and could act as a sounding board for ideas.
Most of all, though, Remo loved being a Ruus'alor. That was his calling. He felt he was in his element helping people with their kits and encouraging each member to get the very best out of their talent. He was so proud when he was asked to be a part of the App Team and even more so when he became a Council Member. Remo just wanted his Clan--Vok'Chi--to be the very best it could be. He would take people aside and tell them what they needed to do and certainly wasn't afraid of giving his clan mates fix instructions. It was abundantly clear how much he cared and it garnered a respect that, if Remo Jadd said something, you stopped and listened.
He was well known to say, "I'm not special, I just do what needs to be done." Many of his friends and protegees feel that typified him; he did things to help because he could, but he didn't feel he was anything special by doing it. He embodied the adage Mando'a has no word for "hero," even though he was, and still is a hero to so many.
The advice he would be most likely to pass down is:
"The work never ends. Do your best so you can be proud of yourself when you show it off. You get out of the club what you put into it. Not everyone has the talent to pull things off, which is why those of us with talent need to look after those without."
Ni su'cuyi, gar kyr'adyc, ni partayli, gar darasuum, Remo Jadd
"I'm still alive, but you are dead. I remember you, so you are eternal."
