Title: Armor concept
Post by: Scarab Oasis on Dec 26, 2018, 11:22 PM
Howdy there! Iíve been a little shy about introducing myself here, but as you guys are gonna be the people I spend the most time with I decided to just jump right in!

So this will be my first suit, and I have a concept drawn out but Iím not sure if itís acceptable. Thoughts and constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated with this, I really value second opinions. Let me know if thereís anything I should change!

Welcome!

It's a really cool looking design!

Are those leg wraps going up to the knees?

Yeah that was what I was thinking. Same with the arm wrappings being up to the elbows

Love it.

You'd have to double check about still needing gauntlets to cover your forearms, or if you can just use wraps (i have a feeling it's the former) but i def love the look of this!

I donít think arm guards would be an addition I would mind very much, theyíd still play to the theme of ďbig then smallĒ I got going on.

Now the question is where do I even start. I can design and draw forever, but I actually have no idea where to even begin with production. Any suggestions?

First thing you need is templates.

You can find Boba and Jango templates on the forums (would post link but I'm pissing from my phone rn sorry!).

Once you get templates that are your size, you will want to trace them onto either 3mm or 6mm sintra.

From there you will cut out each plate and sand the edges.

After they are smoothed out to your liking comes the heat shaping.

Then painting!

Ok so these steps are super simplified, but gets the idea across :) When you are at each step you will want to post pics in your WIP album to get feedback.

Also feel free to ask all the questions!

Hello! I love your design so far and cannot wait to see where you go with this!
I wanted to check, were you planning to leave the flightsuit a little baggy and gather it up into the Leg/arm wraps?
Keep up the awesome work and keep us posted as you go!

Welcome!

First, that is a great drawing, well done!
Second, the shin wraps would look awesome and I hope you go forward with that, but I am curious, are you going to wrap them everytime more sew them on to a spats idea that can easily be removed? (I'm currently working on that idea, but with leather)

I was thinking of creating a slim fitting sleeve to go around my calve, then attaching the wrapping to that. the I was thinking of attaching a hidden zipper along the inside of the leg so it could be taken on and off.

not sure it would actually work, but that was the general plan I have going

so I posted this pic in the armor concept section of the forum and was told the design had to much bag to it, so I redesigned the armor to be something similar and got it approved :)

so here is the sketch and coloured versions

and then here is the more detailed design for the helmet. the text along the top should spell "Child of Stars"

Looks cool! And I bet it will be pretty comfy compared to some of the heavier armour concepts out there.

You've got a good crew around ya, too! They'll help ya get approved, for sure :like:

I'll be following along!

It's good to see the updated image, and to hear that it got the OK from the App Team.  Keep up the good work.

Good luck, and good hunting!

Just google the Mando'a alphabet.  It's the same deal as aurebesh, just switch the letters.

If you want actual Mandalorian words instead of transliterating you can check here:  http://mandoa.org/

In particular, you might find use for some of these:

Ka'ra   [KAY-rah]   stars - ancient Mandalorian myth - ruling council of fallen kings
tra      [trah]      star field

adiik   [AH-deek]   child aged 3 to 13
ika      [EE-kah]      diminutive suffix written as 'ika, e.g, Ord'ika - Little Ordo
ade      [AH-day]      children, sons, daughters
ad      [ahd]      son or daughter
verd   [vaird]      soldier, warrior

To go literally, it would be "ad beh tra" but in Mandalorian, the noun and adjective are often combined with an apostraphe and they drop the "useless" words.  For example, Verd'ika is "Little Warrior".  So you might come up with Tra'ad or Tra'adiik or Kara'ad.

Or make it up, whataever... it's a made up language :P

I like Kara'ad! I'll doodle that on and see how it looks :)

This is a fantastic start, I'm really digging the dark green colours!  There is a Mando'a translator you can download, and the open up any word document and change the font to Mando'a!
This one works pretty well also: https://lingojam.com/Mandoa-EnglishTranslator
