Title: Flak Vest with integrated neck seal Franken-pattern
Post by: Spork on Dec 23, 2019, 12:09 PM
Howdy all,

I wanted to write this down before I forget (so no pictures ATM) I will try to update here as well as my build thread.

I am a sewing pattern addict, and as such have a few hundred patterns.
For the flak vest, I hacked together a few patterns to make my flack vest. It closes on the sides (still debating on clips or lacing)

All Simplicity patterns:

Base:
8480, view A (aka the Zoe vest)
I modified the front vest to bring the neckline up:

Front Neckline and collar
1558, Pieces 1 (front) and 8 (collar)
Using piece 1, I combined the front of Zoe to raise the neckline, then used the collar backward for the neck seal
I cut out two of the collar a skosh large so I could quilt it and close with velcro.

Sleeve Cap
2172, Piece 12 "sleeve flange"
This is the sleeve portion for the flack vest.

This is a great help! I really donít know how to sew without a pattern, so I feel a bit better now. Have you taken any pictures yet?

Just ordered these. I have been having one heck of a time trying to pattern a vest for myself, especially because I am relatively new to sewing. It will be great to have a good starting base.

Thank you!
