Started on my "flight suit" for The Armorer! Please ignore the light grey fabric (I plan to dye it a tad darker) and and the long top (I'll be cutting it shorter once I figure out where everything else sits).
Other than that let me know what you think!

Next I'll be making the neck seal and pants, but I do have one question on the chaps:
The CRLs state that the chaps should be attached to the inner seam of the legs, but should they be sewn down on the outer side at that 1" or so spot where they're supposed to end? Or should they be more of a flap?
-
Oh yeah, and I also have my helmet purchased. Got it from Sionnach Studios here on the forums:

Given that the CRLs aren't yet linked in the canon CRL list, I'd have to ask which CRL you are using and exactly what it says? Before I could answer that.
EDIT: Been given the link. They should probably be linked on the canon page so they can be found...
Anyway... I wouldn't have said she had chaps on, but if that's what the CRLs call it I'll work with it... They look to be plain trousers to me split down the outside seam and then a spacer adding in behind and the outer edges finishing. It looks to have the inner bit attached about an inch in leaving a flap on both back and front that close over the spacer material.
This is the best image I can find for reference.

The description is a bit wonky, but how I understand it is to add another layer of fabric to the front of the trousers, from the inside seam to outside seam, but is 1" short from reaching the side seam. Then sew down the additional layer of fabric 1" from the edge. This will match the visual references pretty closely.

It doesn't look like the back is attached either, it also has the same flap. Which surely means you need to do the same for the back side.

Ah! Found the reference pic I was looking for! Here is a better picture that shows the flap! Seated, you can see that the 'back side' is sewn down as the material pulls smooth and flat when stretched. It is also easier to see how the flap sits as well.
I think the standing picture is a little deceptive of how the seams lie as it is bunched up a bit at the boot.

Pants are complete and boots are in. Still need to finish the long sleeve pieces and neck seal, then I’ll dye them all a tad darker.

Very nice!

Doing some more printing, we got worried that our tongs were too large, but ended up finding them in the show (apparently The Armorer has like 5 different sets of tongs!)

Are any of her tongs acceptable? The CRLs just specify a large set of silver tongs.

Some progress! I have one spat/gaiter done. I used the pattern from Sionnach Studios

Starting work on the gauntlets, these have also been made with the Sionnach pattern.
Please keep in mind this is pre-weathering, so i know the color is off on the cuff: I plan to dirty it up to make it closer to the screen shots.

I've also got the base layer of paint on the helmet. We used Rustoleum's Antique Brass color.

Start of helmet weathering. Next step is the gunmetal on the horns.

Flight suit dye job (before and after), we may lighten it up some... it looks really dark in person. Please ignore the sleeve detailing... those were a synthetic material so the dye ignored it entirely. We'll darken those up with surface weathering.

Nice job on the dye and weathing!

Looking good, vod! :cookie:

I had the same dubt:
I saw that tongs that she used are the shorter model without the "s" at the end:

got my leather cut for the apron, I'm using the pattern from Sionnach Studios. I'm not sure if I want to use muslin (as recommended on the pattern) or something a little more sturdy as the base (which will be hidden completely under the leather), and I need to source some slightly different leather or pleather for the edge detailing in the back.

I also ran a piece through my sewing machine (to make sure it could handle it) with two different thread weights. The heavier weight thread pictured is black, but I would probably try to find a brown if i choose that one.

Progress on the apron!

And with the undersleeves and trim added, the flightsuit should be at 100% (minus some weathering)

Great progress!
My only concern is the light grey middle part of the applications on the arms as they are all the same colour in the reference pictures.
-
Yes, I’m aware of that. The dye didn’t take to those at all. I mentioned in an earlier post when I first dyed it all that I plan to add some surface weathering to darken those up.

The belt looks great!!

I’ve still got to trim and add the border piece, but I have the base weave constructed for my first shoulder piece.

I also got the fur in for the cape. (I haven’t trimmed or weathered it yet tho.)

Woot! Finally got the detailing done (had to borrow a industrial machine at work to do it)

Also here is all the soft parts together so far (and I do know I need to paint the stripes on the sleeve darker to match the rest of the flight suit still. I just haven’t dug out my paints yet):

Painted sleeve detailing to better match dyed fabric.

Some armor parts progress: we’re working on sanding and smoothing the 3D prints of the chest plate and hammer.

We’re also assembling the tongs and reinforcing the parts that were split in 3D printing with steel pins.

As a new UM, I’m terribly impressed at your skills in crafting this kit. So well done.
