Title: Flight suit questions
Post by: Starling on Feb 02, 2021, 10:44 PM
I have some basic sewing experience with both clothing and plushes. I have my own sewing machine (it’s a bit faulty but it works) and thread. I don’t have a heavy duty needle or thread, or interfacing on bias tape, but I can get my hands on all of those if they’re needed. I’ve made a decent number of pants, and several shirts. Would be able to make myself a 2-piece flight suit just as pants and a shirt out of the right materials, maybe with some deign modifications? Or does anyone have a flight suit pattern? Any advice or tips is very helpful and appreciated!

2 piece flight suits are good to go if they appear to be an entire suit (the secret should be hidden under the waist items )

For making it, does a regular shirt and pants made out of the same heavy duty fabric work?

Yep, will work just fine. Many people use scrubs, so pants and shirt will definitely work.

Great, thanks! I’ll poke around and see if I can find the right material (and a pattern... I’ve been doing clothing from memory lately) and any supplies I might need for making it

(Sorry for double-posting)

I think I’m also going to attempt to make a flak vest, but first version is just going to be some cool patterned fabric I have, to test my own pattern which I’ll be tracing off of a vest I own. If it fits well and I can wear it (and figure out how to do zippers) I’ll make my actual flak vest. Otherwise, I’ll do the modified discrete plate carrier thingy
