Invasion Location: "SheVaCon 20" - Roanoke, VA (USA)
Date: February 17 - 19, 2012
Clan Involved: Talon
Mission Objective: Promote the Mercs organization, raise money for Little Warrior International, and have fun at a fan convention.

Invasion Report: Mercs from Talon Clan traveled north to Roanoke, Virginia for the annual SheVaCon.  (Shenandoah Valley Convention)  Celebrating their 20th year, the Mercs met with convention attendees, hosted a Mandalorian Armoring panel, and held a charity bounty hunt for Little Warrior International, which made over $200.

Two notable guests at SheVaCon this year were Jeremy Bulloch (the Mercs only dual Honorary -and- Official Member) and author Timothy Zahn.  Bulloch attended a dinner on Friday night with the Star Wars fan groups and used volunteer Mercs in acting panels he hosted on stage presence and improvisation.  Zahn was inducted as an honorary Mercs member by Talon Clan on Saturday.  Mercs member Pinocchio was also in attendance as a guest artist.

It was great finally getting to meet some of you guys in person.  Great costumes--very well done.  I had never gotten to go to one of the SheVaCon's back home before.  I'd always been stationed too far away from home to make it worthwhile to drive that far just for a weekend.  Novall, it was a pleasure.  I really enjoyed the panel discussion.  Manji, sorry we didn't get a chance to really chat, but it was nice getting to meet a fellow Boba Fett Fan Club moderator and putting a face with the name.  Hope you guys had a safe trip back.  I know it was snowing pretty good when we left to come back to Asheville on Sunday.  Instead of a 4 hour drive, it took about 7.  I'd forgotten how people over here don't remember how to drive when it snows a little.     :-p

Take care, guys.
