Title: Things that go boom
Post by: Vhett Naast on Mar 15, 2012, 05:46 PM
thought I would start a thread for my weapons...

first of is my custom EE-3.  I want this to be a large pistol so the scope had to go (and I filled in all the holes and removed logos) so it could fit into a holster.  kept the stock though, was inspired by the Clint Eastwood western "For a few dollars more"  the one bounty hunter in it has a colt pistol modified with a butt stock that snaps on when he needs to take long range shots.
drilled out the lock system so it can slide in and out now.

and my nerf maverick,  will not be keeping it for my sidearm just gonna leave it as it is for nerf (filling in the holes though)

got a stampede to mod on sale for $25

that where it is now...

And the last one a nerf barrel-break, this will replace the maverick as my sidearm.  going to modify it to be a double barreled slug thrower (sorta like Cade Skywalkers Rawk chopped special)

Finished the stampede, not really intending to use this with my armor but wanted it to pass inspection anyway....so tell me if it doesn't  ;)

You're going to need to add or change more of it yet, i'm afraid. It's very nice, but still cries Nerf.  ;)

whats the product name of the nerf barrel break

this is it: Nerf Barrel Break Ix-2 N-Strike Blaster

You're going to need to add or change more of it yet, i'm afraid. It's very nice, but still cries Nerf.  ;)

that what I was afraid of.....see what I can come up with  ;)

here is the barrel break,  it suppose to be a slug thrower used by Vhett during the vong war.   This turned out great, I think anyway.....tell me how I did.

I think you may need to mod that slugthrower more.  Right now it just looks like a repainted nerf.  Cutting off bits and adding other things will probably help a lot to improve your chances of passing the CRLS.  Look around at some of the other Nerf builds to see how people are De-Nerfing their Nerfs.

I do really like your weathering techniques.

Also, keep in mind that you'll have to do something to the dart guns to make them non-operational. In order to pass inspection, there's gotta be no way you can fire a dart at an event. :P

Shouldn't this thread be more appropriately titled, "Things that go FWAP"?
Thought I guess, "This is my FWAP stick!" sounds a little... odd...

I really like that slug thrower.  Like, a lot.  I want one that looks just like that.  The leather grip looks great and works perfectly, the lettering is flawless (unless it's backwards or something) and your weathering is beautiful.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I really like my slug thrower  :D

so more modding?.....I will try to come up with something, kinda like it how it is now though  ;)

Here is another one I have going.  picked up this rebel blaster (DH-17 right?) at target for half price, thought i would give it a go.

it currently has the spring/thing you pull to -censored- it, and dart holder removed, and holes filled in.  needs more sanding then I will post more pics  ;)

That DH-17 looks sweat  ;D

The slugthrower looks to much like a really world weapon.

You're going to need to add or change more of it yet, i'm afraid. It's very nice, but still cries Nerf.  ;)

I agree with Remo Jadd, that the Nerf Barrel Break Ix-2 N-Strike Blaster does not look vary Star Warsish; it reminds me more of something out of Mass Effect.  But it still looks great.

I disagree with the slug thrower comment, I think it looks very Star Wars. Kind of like Cade's blaster from Legacy.

I am still kicking mod ideas around on the slug thrower.......maybe adding another barrel.....triple barreled slug thrower?

I think the DH-17 and the slug-thrower look incredible. I'm modding a DL-44 hopefully 2 in the long run and that weathering is encouraging to see what can be done with toys : )

Thanks Cengo  ;)

I got another hasbro EE-3, picked it up on a super clearance. Also got a scope too for a pretty good deal. EE-3+scope=ROTJ mod  :)  Didn't bother trying to lengthen the stock so its a little undersized (the whole thing is really, except the scope) and the scope is not the exact thing, but for the amount of money I put into it, I think it looks good.  So here it is in all it's rusty glory...

The start

Thanks vod  ;D

how did you get the rust effect?

For the rust I mixed brown paint with a little red until I got the right color.  Did dry-brushing and the old glob-it-on wipe-it-off method to.   What really seemed to work best actually was, I left the mixed up paint out over night.  And the next day it was mostly dry, and kinda thick.  That really worked better then the fresh outta the tube stuff.

Been working on a rotary gun for a while now, was hoping to have it done in tine for reads day but that didn't happen.  Mod of a air zone punisher i think is what it was called, done a lot of bondo filling on it.

Couldn't get the drum to stay on, so I filled it with fiberglass and fiber clothe. Work like a charm...but the fiberglass seeped throughout it and now the barrels wont spin...woops   :(

Same question on the Cad Bane blasters, where did they come from?

Cheers!

The LL-30's or "bane blasters"  are just cheap rubies brand ones.  Was about $20 for the pair and a crappy vinyl belt.  They are super light weight and about the same overall length and size as the Jango blasters they make.

Been awhile since I updated this....got some projects rolling ya'll might like  ;)

Picked back up on the rotary cannon, its still got a long ways to go.  Working on the barrel extension.

Got these three about a month back> bottom two I got for a combined total of $20  :)

(http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg620/mjsnyder2/Vhett%20Naast%20armor%20build/IMG_1421_zps40294268.jpg) (http://s1246.photobucket.com/user/mjsnyder2/media/Vhett%20Naast%20armor%20build/IMG_1421_zps40294268.jpg.html)

Top one is an Uzzi, can anyone say supertrooper blaster?   The middle one I plan to use for my kit, and the rebel blaster will be modded to like this> http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=61604.0

Worked on the rifle tonight.  Took out the internals, then filled the entire gun with hot glue, scraps of plastic, and expendable foam.  sealed up the screw holes, added the clip on and closed up the original receiver.  More filler work is needed.

(http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg620/mjsnyder2/Vhett%20Naast%20armor%20build/IMG_2160_zps7b6440a5.jpg) (http://s1246.photobucket.com/user/mjsnyder2/media/Vhett%20Naast%20armor%20build/IMG_2160_zps7b6440a5.jpg.html)

And got this pistol on a whim, decided to give it a go after seeing what Arden Fisk did with hers, on her rodian kit.

(http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg620/mjsnyder2/Vhett%20Naast%20armor%20build/IMG_2164_zps7b0ae2e1.jpg) (http://s1246.photobucket.com/user/mjsnyder2/media/Vhett%20Naast%20armor%20build/IMG_2164_zps7b0ae2e1.jpg.html)

Yes, it lights up  ;D

(http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg620/mjsnyder2/Vhett%20Naast%20armor%20build/IMG_2170_zps91bb58ce.jpg) (http://s1246.photobucket.com/user/mjsnyder2/media/Vhett%20Naast%20armor%20build/IMG_2170_zps91bb58ce.jpg.html)

Still very much a WIP.

And last but not least,  picked up two thermal detonators from Shammok, great quality on these.  Just needed a little filler work on some pin holes and they where good to go!  Here is the finished product.

Whoa man! I've had a week or two's absence on the mercs and this is what I have to come back to? All I gotta say is dayum!!! You did my armor and modded guns at the same time? Like a boss.

lol, thanks bud.  ;)

Progression on the gun:  finished matte black layers, tapped off the stock and for-grip for more.   First was espresso brown, followed by metallic oil rubbed bronze.  Peeled off some masking as well to reveal some silver detailing I left.

I also painted on its name, I like naming my weapons  ;D,  this one is Unforgiven .  Which is a nod to the Clint Eastwood western of the same name.

Next up I'll be doing the weathering, and that will finish it up.

I'm really happy with how it turned out, I do plan to add a leather sling to it at some point.

As always, let me know what you think  ;)
