Hello I am new but have purchased some armor already was hoping for tips to post photos via mobile so you can see exactly what questions I may have about the pieces
-
You need a photobucket account and upload the pictures there, then copy and paste the direct link..will have [Img]tags. Hope that helps :)
-
OK thanks for the help! (http://rs1378.pbsrc.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/_57_zps09gy84kn.jpg~320x480)you can see I have plates with the iconic skull on them and for added effect I would like to make the skull look like it is welded on . dose anybody have any tips.( I also have the neck plate not pictured)
-
That looks bad -censored-! I would recommend doing a fit test..tape the armor to you and let some OMs weigh in on how it all looks and if you need to trim some off or whatever the case may be. It would suck to get it all pretty and then have to ruin the design to get it to pass CRLs.
-
I will try it on an take some photos but I had seller pull mesurments and I think they may fit. Purfect

Fingers crossed that is the case..but I know from building other costumes that having to adjust the fit to your specific body is kinda par for the course. Look forward to seeing pics of it on you and your progression.
Any ideas for color scheme?
-
I am actually looking for a tattoine scheme withe exception of burgendy thrown in there the skull on the plates will look like a very old rusted weld . I tried a man do maker not satisfied with the color shade but is about what Im Looking for except the cod will match the rest of the plates

Nice color concept. MandoMaker doesn't work for an exact match but it's great to point you in the right direction.
Definitely get those plates strapped on so we can see how they fit. The last thing you want to do is get everything painted up really nice only to find out the plates don't fit as well as you thought.
For the welding....
I did a quick google search for "welding discoloration" and found some really interesting photos.

The last pic look like what you want to do.
To create that kind of effect I'd use something like a 2-Part epoxy or even a thick glue/paste. But my first choice would be an epoxy puddy.
Hope this helps a little ;D

Those are discolorations caused by varying levels of heat on steel. It's a little different... Actually, if you're steady with a glue gun, you can drop a bead pattern handily, then use an alternating brown- and dark-red wash over the area. Quick note- depending on the alloy and the filler metal used, some beads will resist rust, even when the plate around them is going to flakes.

Hot glue is the best way to make the bead pattern, epoxy looks just as good, but is much more difficult to remove if you make a mistake. Also you can go as fast or slow as you want with hot glue, while with epoxy you only have a set amount of time to work with.
-
Hot glue would definitely get the job done. I prefer epoxy because it gives you a little more control and once it's on there you never have to worry about it peeling off or flexing and cracking your paint. And with most epoxies you've got a good 5-10 minutes to play around with shapes and patterns to get it looking exactly how you want. Plenty of time.
But the best stuff to use is whatever you're comfortable with ;D

Thank you I will test both methods befor trying them on armor the plates will hopefully be in wedsday and I will post pics for sizing and hopefully no triming needed . For paint is there any specific brand I should get?

My dh used Krylon with good results. As long as you stick with one brand..ie dont mix brands you should be fine. Love the color scheme cant wait to see it in reality

OK so I am still waiting on the plates lost some where in the mail... >:( but have begun buying paint in anticipation of coming home to armor but I figured it makes a great time to work on my weld / rust skills for my Mando check out the paint test and welding bead made with hot glue (http://rs1378.pbsrc.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1406858225772_8e6a763937e2bfe577_0_zpsk4feyyiw.jpeg~320x480) (http://rs1378.pbsrc.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1406859586693_381020ac33e4f4c047_0_zpsyq2blxih.jpeg~320x480) sorry my tablet takes very bad pictures
-
That paint looks great vod. I'm in the same boat as you with my armor.
-
So the armor is in and fits great due to the masking tape not wanting to hold it looks lopsided but from what I see it is the correct size
(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1406937381943_15404c724dbaff2770_1_zpsiblbixus.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1406937381943_15404c724dbaff2770_1_zpsiblbixus.jpeg.html)
-
it looks like the chest and stomach plates could use a bit more curve. Maybe that's just me though.
-
Yes I was thinking the same thing but mostly just on the ab plate the black shirt does not do the picture justice
-
rust paint looks awesome.... BUT if it helps Games Workshop paints has some special effects acrylics for this effect. If they are good for my stupid expensive plastic crack toy soldiers surely they are good enough for armor. Typhus Corrosion and Ryza's Rust are the name of the effect paints
-
I think I will have the rust covered did the "weld" and some dents with a dremel sanded down and primered 1 coat(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/IMG_20140801_202743_zpsyghxw9oh.jpg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/IMG_20140801_202743_zpsyghxw9oh.jpg.html)
-
It looks like braided rope right now, but once it's painted I'm sure it'll look great
-
Chest plates seem a little wide but that could be from them being a bit off because of the tape. Before you mount them or get too heavy into the paint process try to take another pic just to double check the size and alignment. Las thing you want to is to spend days on a kickass paint job only to be told your plates need to be trimmed/shaped.
For paint I like Krylon for it's fast drying time. They also make a "rust" color that I used for my armor. Rustolium is good too but it takes a bit longer to dry.
The weld lines do look kind of braided or stitched. But it's a cool effect and I'm sure it will look really col once it's painted up.
Keep up the progress!!
-
OK here is a list of recent progress the plates shifted again on the shirt but you can see that with adjusted spacing they are correctly sized(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1407037728364_7126e5966492991c25_0_zpsrexgkxmq.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1407037728364_7126e5966492991c25_0_zpsrexgkxmq.jpeg.html)(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1407037728364_7126e5966492991c25_1_zps3p0zl32m.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1407037728364_7126e5966492991c25_1_zps3p0zl32m.jpeg.html) (http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1407289782702_b54413e241963a9a44_1_zpsjiy3gi6p.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1407289782702_b54413e241963a9a44_1_zpsjiy3gi6p.jpeg.html).(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1407289782702_b54413e241963a9a44_0_zps94cuyhyz.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1407289782702_b54413e241963a9a44_0_zps94cuyhyz.jpeg.html)

The "weld" looks much better with the paint on. They seem like a good fit but it looks like there is too much space between everything.
-
The weld does look a lot better, but throw a bit of blue and green streaking around the outside and inside edges of the weld line, it doesn't quite look right yet IMHO
-
Very nice work so far! gonna be watchin closely!

Agree with all of this.
Everything does look much better. Looking forward to seeing a plate placement picture with the vest.
-
That paint is wonderful. Emulate the heat with the blue and that will really set it off. I would've really liked to see that about plate have more of a curve but hopefully with the vest it'll sort itself out. It's looking great overall though, keep it up!
-
I have a few of the items for my belt planning on getting another mosin pouch(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/Mobile%20Uploads/received_m_mid_1407465558188_de6bf5bf848631c268_0_zps7xdvewki.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/Mobile%20Uploads/received_m_mid_1407465558188_de6bf5bf848631c268_0_zps7xdvewki.jpeg.html)

If you wanna carry the lightsaber hilt, it has to be as a trophy. You're gonna have to make it look REALLY damaged, like cut in half & blown up damaged
-
How do you plan on mounting the plates to the vest? The ab plate really could use a bit more of a curve on the sides. But as Van said once it's mounted to the vest the material will be puled close to the plate and it will be fine.
I'd suggest snaps or bolts for mounting. Velcro might work but because of the ab plate you run the risk of the ab pulling away from the vest and driving you nuts.
-

The hilt is already semi weathered and I am actually working on exposed wiring and a lot more char I will post an updated picture as soon as I get that and the weld on my plates painted up. The plates will be mounted with button snaps to make sure they won't be going no where . do you think a little hit with the heat gun will mess the paint up ?
-
You could get some interesting weathering with a heat gun
-
You could get some intereting weathering with the heat gun, and if you don't like it you can always repaint. I would suggest heating from the back of the piece, that will probably damage the paint job much less than coming at it from the front.
-
Nice paint work ;)
Get those plates Up more vod ;) once they are up higher i reckon the size will be spot on.
get the collar up touching you throat and then space the plates down from there ;)
Nice work vod keep it up
-
OK so I tried the blue but it looked much to cartoon like I mixed some blue and copper and was pleased with the turn out(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1407673672017_1b112536a6b4595439_2_zpsciyamjo5.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1407673672017_1b112536a6b4595439_2_zpsciyamjo5.jpeg.html)(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1407673672017_1b112536a6b4595439_1_zpszxxrvppw.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1407673672017_1b112536a6b4595439_1_zpszxxrvppw.jpeg.html)
-
awesome weathering, the weld looks really good ;D
-
THAT IS PRETTY. If I didn't know better I would say it was welded on. Glad the blue suggestion worked.
-
That just looks darn good vod :)
-
Awesome weathering, love the way the Mythosaur looks on the chest too.
-
Heating the plates to get the bend in the ab....move the plates up first as Niabi said and see how it looks. Once the plates are positioned properly and secured to the vest everything might look fine. But have one last look at the plates before securing them to the vest. Measure twice, cut once, so to speak.
If the ab still looks like it might need some bending I'd recommend always heating plates from the inside. This will help prevent unwanted distortion and unplanned weathering. I learned this lesson the hard way :-[
-
OK so I am have had some troubles getting together soft parts but had the chance to paint up my shoulder bells what do you think(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1408417862638_cc69eb5722d7128c60_0_zpsa1pzjji2.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1408417862638_cc69eb5722d7128c60_0_zpsa1pzjji2.jpeg.html)(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1408417859953_02fbe8b61afba66820_0_zpsiviqagop.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1408417859953_02fbe8b61afba66820_0_zpsiviqagop.jpeg.html)
-
Looks good ner vod! Awesome weathering job. Same on those chest plates. Kandosii 8)
-
I'm digging those shoulders!
-
The little notch looked like a mess up at first, then I saw that it's part of the shape. I dig it vod, it's coming together nicely.
-
Thank you vod they are not your normal shoulder bells they have a really heavy look to them
-
Hey there whats that a gaffi stick trophy / wepon?! Because what's better then destroying tuskans with there own weapon(http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah109/edoller33/received_m_mid_1408830580901_3cc85cbd2ae4932a37_0_zpsm13zfvxj.jpeg) (http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/edoller33/media/received_m_mid_1408830580901_3cc85cbd2ae4932a37_0_zpsm13zfvxj.jpeg.html)

nice gaffi stick vod ;)
and the shoulders look cool too 8)
-
Been quite some time but I made up my vest just ran out of snaps for the armor the vest is 100% leather
(http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/909E3D75-1143-4334-8B0C-30280EEAB183_zps7uuy3zgz.jpg~original) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/909E3D75-1143-4334-8B0C-30280EEAB183_zps7uuy3zgz.jpg.html)
-
Vest is lookin good...I'm worried the chest plates might be a bit too wide though. Looking at the collar (which looks like it works size wise) I'd say take about a half inch off the outside edge of the just the chest plates (leave the ab & collar alone)
Glad to see you working again & we hope to see more progress from you soon!
-

-
Osik...that looks freaking AMAZING!
-
Thanks :D it have put a lot of blood sweat and tears into this
-
It definitely shows!
-
Your kit is looking kick shebs!! Almost has a steampunk feel to it..Im loving it. Cant wait to see it finished
-
An update of my plates new size question is dose girth belt go on top of the plate or under like the photo am aware of my Ves scrunched look had one snap off (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/37E76ADA-89C5-4A63-A418-047BDF003EA2_zpsnfyjlbiz.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/37E76ADA-89C5-4A63-A418-047BDF003EA2_zpsnfyjlbiz.jpg.html)
-
I think it's personal preference...I wear mine over the bottom of my ability plate
-
Also my cape became more of a poncho that I will prolly wear slung more over my shoulder instead the gloves will be cut down and dyed partially to look more like Han solos anh gloves (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/14F15E7B-5BEA-4B7A-9C3E-667194166E36_zpsgdx9dhp5.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/14F15E7B-5BEA-4B7A-9C3E-667194166E36_zpsgdx9dhp5.jpg.html)

So with my bucket lost somewhere between Canada and Arizona I am growing very anxious but have come up with what I am thinking is my final concept since I am shooting between a desert ops and a gun slinger I picked up an idea from the desert ops forum for a detachable sand stopper like a galactic marine . I also am going to have my breathing apparatus built into my helmet in place of the teeth slots of the skull design (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/4B601053-629C-4647-A050-D7BF87DB52A4_zpskjejvkx4.png) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/4B601053-629C-4647-A050-D7BF87DB52A4_zpskjejvkx4.png.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/12DF3010-8377-44F8-AA33-2F5B77B4E047_zpsenbamycq.png) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/12DF3010-8377-44F8-AA33-2F5B77B4E047_zpsenbamycq.png.html)
-
Nice
-
If that helmet makes it from concept to reality, it may be one of the best buckets I've ever seen. The concept alone blows my mind!
-
Would the 'skirt' go up into the cheek area like shown with the first picture? How are you planning on accomplishing that?
As a backup plan for the skirt I would run velcro around the bottom of the bucket and the top or the skirt so it's detachable.
Like Kol said, it would be epic. I had thoughts of doing something like that for a desert kit if I made one.
-
That looks pretty sweet ner vod

Thanks all for the positive feed back :oThe skirting will cover only the cheeks portion and then as it wraps around the back it will go inside of the bucket I am curently thinking on using low profile snaps as the atchment method not sure if I mentioned but the skirting will be leather so it will definetly look heavy duty
-
Think about magnets as the attachment method. If you recess magnets into the cheeks, then sew magents into the shroud you'll have a quick and practically invisible attachment method.
-
It has crossed my mind but do to the weight of leather I am not sure if magnets will have the strength to hold it without sliding down during a troop I may need to test it out
-
if you get strong enough magnets it won't be a problem. Look for Neodymium or Rare Earth magnets. Much stronger than the black 'refrigerator' variety you find in most stores.

Will check around this weekend and see if my small town has anything like that if not I will most likely order some online . Bucket will be in by the time I get off tomorrow hopefully! So I can get started on it. Finished up on my current guns tonight and my cod is about done it will be mounted to a secondary belt that will double as a ammunition belt. Let me know what you think about my wepons . I founs some pretty strong magnets at home depot, you can get a pack of like 10 for less than 5 bucks. Totally loving the weapons btw!

too much awesomeness vod

Ok so here it is vod this is before touch up paint and inside basing / wiring . The neck seal is not finished either just wanted to give you the idea so what do you all think?? ;D (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/2EBEF4C7-AE2E-4593-88B8-FA008D394C31_zpsknmagq5g.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/2EBEF4C7-AE2E-4593-88B8-FA008D394C31_zpsknmagq5g.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/F0A7EB41-C77A-4C34-8F4B-B5F3D0165AC7_zpsuetqkncs.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/F0A7EB41-C77A-4C34-8F4B-B5F3D0165AC7_zpsuetqkncs.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/9D115400-DB6F-44CF-9E3C-1D0C237210B3_zpscysghyi4.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/9D115400-DB6F-44CF-9E3C-1D0C237210B3_zpscysghyi4.jpg.html)
-
The ragedness of the edges bothers me a little, but if that's what you are going for then it looks great.
-
:o :o :o :o :o absolutely LOVING the helmet ner vod! I think once that neckseal is finished up its gonna be just as amazing! I can't wait to see it all finishded!
-
I have a edge burnishing wax that I put on edges to make them look awesome! So that's no worry just test fit to see how it looks
-
I can't believe I haven't seen this WIP before now! You sir are doing a mighty fine job. I've only seen a couple kits done with a heavy western influence to them, but in my opinion they were among the best I've seen. I really like the cowl/Galactic Marine look on the helmet, it needs some tweaking but the concept is solid for sure.
Looking forward to seeing more on your build man! keep at it.
-
Loving this, I was debating going for a western themed kit for my next build. Absolutely adore that helmet, brilliant!
-
Hey thank you all ! You can somewhat see in the photo that there is another pice of leather but red was thinking of doing a cut out design semi western and having a double layer cowl that looks somewhat like a bandana
-
joard is right about the cheeks, they need to be cleaned up a bit. But this is a fantastic looking helmet!!
-
oh yeah ;) looks cool vod
will the leather on the cheeks be flat when finished?
-
Yes it will lay flat on the cheeks and also be cleaned and burnished on the edges then cut and scribed for my red layer design that should looks similar to this (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/40FFC733-9FC6-4888-9802-1773941C2F0D_zpssz3hu4ks.png) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/40FFC733-9FC6-4888-9802-1773941C2F0D_zpssz3hu4ks.png.html)
-
This just gets better and better!
-
Sweeeeeeeeeet...
-
Ok so I am almost there with this "bandana" as I'm going to call it. As I first joined the two pices of leather it just put off a really clean look . But that just would not do .I wanted this to look like a in field addition to my bucket just like my chest plates have that same infield weld look to them . So I took my carving iron and gave all the edges of the pattern a nice chared up grimy look . since it is removable when I don't feel like sweating so much it will be able to hang on my neck such as a bandanna would. (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/004926E1-936F-4DE9-A1C1-80B40DE2290B_zpslsry3k15.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/004926E1-936F-4DE9-A1C1-80B40DE2290B_zpslsry3k15.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/D1BE10AF-8540-4C7D-B61E-95F3F4FB67EC_zpsbgsthifo.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/D1BE10AF-8540-4C7D-B61E-95F3F4FB67EC_zpsbgsthifo.jpg.html)

awesome sause ;)
-
PERFECTION
-
Yeah....that's the kind of thing that inspires nightmares in those that are the hunted.
-
Ok so it dose not seem to have posted but I replaced the bulky breathers on my bucket they were driving me nuts and have started my arena inspired jet pack from scrap .
(http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/87D05152-DEBD-4D21-8819-9E821B074314_zpsp0yhfca8.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/87D05152-DEBD-4D21-8819-9E821B074314_zpsp0yhfca8.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/C9C74FBB-9231-4663-80C5-576A6E274BAF_zps0fuln3ax.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/C9C74FBB-9231-4663-80C5-576A6E274BAF_zps0fuln3ax.jpg.html)
-
I liked the bulky ones. The new ones do looks awesome though.
-
I think the newer ones make it look more like teeth. That skull cutout in the leather is outstanding work.
-
Thank you I am a leather crafter so I have boxes upon boxes of leather scrap so Leather will have a large influence in my build. And to the breathers that is why I changed them to get much closer to my concept design the sure do look much more menacing
-
Yep, I like those more.
-

Love the neck seal, heck, I love the whole bucket. Nice work!
Almost gives it a bearded Viking berserker look.
-
Just TOTALLLY :o :o
AWESOME work! Gives me hope with mine.
-
Hey thanks everybody for the feed back just an update for my jet pack build. I am a plumber so I have acces to a lot of plumbing scraps this was built from primarily plumbing scraps I just need to finish up a desighn for my rocket and add a few greebs before paint. (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/8721714E-DFFE-41C9-AD11-6885CD7FCBD0_zps3ccfjqdp.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/8721714E-DFFE-41C9-AD11-6885CD7FCBD0_zps3ccfjqdp.jpg.html)

Ok so since I still have some light outside I decided to do a partial test fit on my kit while I am trying to figure out mounting my jet pack . Please take note that my cod was not finished with paint but I fixed that copper blur (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/5AC6EF53-0AC0-4614-BF0E-1E84948D5D96_zps3xsyg3m4.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/5AC6EF53-0AC0-4614-BF0E-1E84948D5D96_zps3xsyg3m4.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/003D886D-F698-47DD-AC77-BFA53974B20B_zps7yekigu3.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/003D886D-F698-47DD-AC77-BFA53974B20B_zps7yekigu3.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/B5177C80-8185-43AE-9C93-78EFDAF39903_zpstgnh5nol.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/B5177C80-8185-43AE-9C93-78EFDAF39903_zpstgnh5nol.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/048BD46D-337A-4FAE-827C-A73FFFD0091D_zpsogzptfly.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/048BD46D-337A-4FAE-827C-A73FFFD0091D_zpsogzptfly.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/AC2F59CA-E916-4BF1-98D7-E913EA31BCD6_zpstmq7regh.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/AC2F59CA-E916-4BF1-98D7-E913EA31BCD6_zpstmq7regh.jpg.html)
-
Dude...that is SERIOUSLY bad shebs! Can't wait to see it all together!
-
thanks vod was wondering if I will be ok sleeveless for app photos
-
The only character allowed to be sleeveless is Montross, so unfortunately, this means you will have to do a flightsuit or something similar
-
Ok well thank you I do have sleeves but I liked the look without them and also the Arizona heat is pretty bad with the amount of leather on my kit so far
-
I definitely understand that...my current vest is leather, so trust me I can relate. It's doesn't matter how cool it is outside, you're gonna sweat buckets no matter what.
-
I added a targeting system to my bucket since I do not have a range finder but one is required for the brigade I plan to join. (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/828172A9-F282-4990-87D0-9EBA76335390_zps7y1esey9.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/828172A9-F282-4990-87D0-9EBA76335390_zps7y1esey9.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/3882A6C0-5D1B-4E3E-9535-302A267DA95E_zpsm2gt9b9z.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/3882A6C0-5D1B-4E3E-9535-302A267DA95E_zpsm2gt9b9z.jpg.html)
-
Dang dude, your looking good! Like the added targeting system.
-
By far one of the coolest kits I've seen so far. Keep up the awesome work!
-
I keep wondering why the kit looks odd...not saying it's not awesome, because there's really no other word for it. But I realized it's the helmet proportion to the rest of the body. I'm the same when I put on my stuff, and I'm very skinny! Oh the struggle! Loving your work!
-
Haha I was wondering if perhaps it was just me but I think I may look like a bobble head I put some more padding in the bucket and I feel now that since the bucket sits a bit higher it kinda fixed the issue
-
A small update while I'm waiting on my westars to show up in the mail I made up a better buckle for my main belt rig my torch ran out of fuel before I finished the desighns so that is why it just has some brass dots but I should get some more fuel soon (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/B1F3DBA9-83B1-46C4-BEC9-A02C912EE19B_zpsbxbpfcnj.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/B1F3DBA9-83B1-46C4-BEC9-A02C912EE19B_zpsbxbpfcnj.jpg.html) and size comparison to my old buckle (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/C453C5A6-2435-4439-93AB-4862F2ED7E21_zpsrkvefsiy.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/C453C5A6-2435-4439-93AB-4862F2ED7E21_zpsrkvefsiy.jpg.html)
-
Cannot believe I've managed to miss this thread so far - Vod, your work is sublime!
Extra kudos for the super-sexy leaver-action rifle :3
A question for you, how did you tackle the sun visor? I've been wanting to add one to my kit (along with a clone fin) - yours appeared to be cast? :)
- Ollie
-
I actually orders the visor from droodles with the true Mandalorian ears he cuts them from Sintra it is actually quite nice i dremel end slots into the ears then glued the visor into said slots so it is on nice and sturdy
-
Ok so I was wondering since I am going to build twords a gun slinger brigade . Would it be a problem to start adding the sigil to my kit
-
It's generally best to keep any clan/brigade logos off your kit until you're OM and approved in said brigade.
-
And when you submit your application to the brigade (using normal App style photos) you can photoshop one of the pics and add "Brigade Symbol here" or just include that in text.
-
So I have a concern that your helmet doesn't have enough of a T-visor going on. I know the inspiration was the executioner helmet, but where that has the teeth cut out to complete the T at the bottom, yours doesn't.
-
Ok so I was wondering since I am going to build twords a gun slinger brigade . Would it be a problem to start adding the sigil to my kit
You're not allowed to wear the brigade sigil until after you're approved into the brigade, and as others have said, when you submit just make sure to mention that you have a place for the brigade sigil in mind
-
I sent the app team a question on my bucket . I am at the final road block In my kit my back plate is kicing by Shebs i can not figure out how to shape it just right I put it in the oven and my wife has tryed to help with shaping but it dose not seem to be working just rite
-
I've found the best way to shape a back plate is with help from another mando. there's no way you're going to get it right yourself, there are just too many weird angles and curves that have to happen.
-
Yup, the best is to have 3 other Mando's for the optimal shaping experience. Although it's possible (and very difficult) to do it by yourself. An additional option if you're unable to get any other Mando aid is to make a duct-tape mannequin and try to shape against that, it's not the perfect solution but it should work, and you could even get your wife to help as well and guide her with the shaping, or at least have her hold shaped spots.
-
Well it has been an u enjoyable experience but I set it on on hold so I could complete my final 2 pistols a Westar variant (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/F27EDC8F-68BB-4B37-8421-AA449A3FECA6_zpsqyldla7t.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/F27EDC8F-68BB-4B37-8421-AA449A3FECA6_zpsqyldla7t.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/75461247-EE75-4DC3-ADAE-BBFF31C61094_zpshiecofel.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/75461247-EE75-4DC3-ADAE-BBFF31C61094_zpshiecofel.jpg.html)

Those look incredible... Very cool!
-
Hey thanks ! They just need a little touch up paint now
-
First time i've checked this out in a while. Great work duder. I am so jelly of your leather skills lol
-
And a quick shot of where plan to place these on my rig I may go ahead and make a huckleberry shoulder rig thow so that my belt rig ain't sagging so much (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/DBF8E02A-B1CC-4F85-9EF1-428154EB0542_zpshtlwqqjs.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/DBF8E02A-B1CC-4F85-9EF1-428154EB0542_zpshtlwqqjs.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/423401ED-6DC3-4971-9D83-EC85D24F1190_zpsjict1v40.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/423401ED-6DC3-4971-9D83-EC85D24F1190_zpsjict1v40.jpg.html)

Looks like a good belt setup.
What are the small metal things held on wilt leather cords? Just random trophy things?
Throw on some more Jetti winnings, braids, crystals, holocron.
-
:o :o :o :o :o
Osik ner vod! That frickin belt is AMAZING!!!!
-
The metal things were intended to be ammo but do not look much like ammo saddly . I think now that you mention it I will make some holocron and I am trying to figure out a saber crystal idea
-
App team said I need to have more of a t visor so I will be removing the breathing apperattus today but I did make me up a few saber crystals (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/564F5306-C892-49F7-80EA-E0DA81A35200_zpst9wwoka1.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/564F5306-C892-49F7-80EA-E0DA81A35200_zpst9wwoka1.jpg.html)
-
Nice!
-
What are those crystals made of? i like them!
-
I mad made up some bicep pouches since I was down in the leather shop thinking just need to dye them to match my boots and such (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/56BCBBD2-7A2C-4598-ACA3-541556E10590_zpskk2zlgzs.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/56BCBBD2-7A2C-4598-ACA3-541556E10590_zpskk2zlgzs.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/9E0A85BE-9959-4D5D-B787-B14CF20FE69A_zpsfsassywp.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/9E0A85BE-9959-4D5D-B787-B14CF20FE69A_zpsfsassywp.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/6255571F-FC84-4B5F-AA3D-363A4B31CC41_zpspa50rboc.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/6255571F-FC84-4B5F-AA3D-363A4B31CC41_zpspa50rboc.jpg.html) .
I made them very simple with the scraps from making my visor just cut a bunch of slivers and chunks then used hot glue to glue them all together then just grabbed a sharpy and colored them
-

Here is the issue with my back plate it looks like it's all shaped good untill you look at the top any tips on what I can do before I go nuts ???? ???(http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/F4AAE59E-5344-4198-B675-2657D80D845E_zpsfymwnsqp.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/F4AAE59E-5344-4198-B675-2657D80D845E_zpsfymwnsqp.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/6A99511B-03DA-4540-8B18-EE26DED60D20_zpswms1abi8.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/6A99511B-03DA-4540-8B18-EE26DED60D20_zpswms1abi8.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/0FDA09A3-A68C-467E-AE7B-ECDD1E71FC22_zpsuuz3iage.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/0FDA09A3-A68C-467E-AE7B-ECDD1E71FC22_zpsuuz3iage.jpg.html)

ahhhhh, the joys of back plates and collar plates! :P
The back plate looks a bit wide truthfully and is closing in on interfering with your shoulder bells.
I would trim some off each side and see how it comes together.
-
I agree with Zedrin about the backplate interfering with the shoulders. I'd suggest getting you vest and all plates on, stand in a neutral position, and have a friend/parent/family person use pencil to mark where the collar stops compared to the backplate. Draw a cut line with the pencil from where your second marked. Try a more vertical line straight down the back, should make it look much less bulky. I had the same problem at first.
-
Yep, I'd agree with these guys^^ A little trimming will get you a long ways. Other then being a little wide, your's looks like it's shaped really nicely actually.
But yeah, there is no two ways about it, back plates are pretty much the bane of our existence. They suck :P :P :P
I think I tried my hand at two different back plates before I gave up and just ordered a vac-formed one.

Here is the most recent addition to my kit (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/6BBD760F-4685-4A96-BC7C-E46AEA1870AE_zpspyomcgp6.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/6BBD760F-4685-4A96-BC7C-E46AEA1870AE_zpspyomcgp6.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/C08653C6-90FE-449D-8EEB-483C5A25FFE2_zpsjyqx9ehe.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/C08653C6-90FE-449D-8EEB-483C5A25FFE2_zpsjyqx9ehe.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/C0383D9F-8FC3-48B7-BE28-840F0E82A9F5_zpsgadaylzr.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/C0383D9F-8FC3-48B7-BE28-840F0E82A9F5_zpsgadaylzr.jpg.html)

Ok so I need a opinion on my Kama I have mixed feelings of it now so here I am with and without (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/B12AB942-3E80-4998-9A2A-9DD17B6A6BA4_zpssrzuem1s.png) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/B12AB942-3E80-4998-9A2A-9DD17B6A6BA4_zpssrzuem1s.png.html). -
Without. Cowboy not need no kama.
Cowboy need a poncho... :)
-
The kama is nice, but I have to agree with Mercy. I'd go without the kama.
-
Haha thanks guys I hade a feeling that it was to much

-
Some kits look better with alot of fabric, but yours has alot of other stuff going on so the Kama really isnt necessary, but if you decide to add it later, it would'nt be a bad addition
-
Yeah I wouldn't garbagize it, but I think your kit looks slightly better without the kama. Basically for the same reason that Naasad stated^^
That said, I'm really loving your kit man. Really diggin all the gear and greeblies you've got hanging off your belt. Yeah, really really liking it man. Good work!!
-
Love the gaffi stick! Great idea for an in-universe melee weapon.
-
Your kit looks phenomenal, vod. With or without the kama.
-
I think the only thing about the kama was that blue outline, made it stand out a bit much. I wouldn't ditch the idea though, but with how much is going on with the kit, it won't be missed for the time being. For what it's worth, this kit is already giving some of my favorite mando kits a run for their money! Now one of my favorites. Phenomenal work vod ;D
-
Thank you everybody for the enthusiasm 8) indeed the blue turned out far to bright was shooting for the same blue as my vest trim but I picked up a new brand of leather dye and the blue just did not match up so I will strip the blue off and re die it if someone would like the Kama for there own kit it is canvas with leather trim and a belt slips into it (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/CD857CAE-4B55-4E6B-8F26-3ACFE785B9E3_zpshd5xw82x.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/CD857CAE-4B55-4E6B-8F26-3ACFE785B9E3_zpshd5xw82x.jpg.html)
-
Great looking kit, Good luck on your app, I really don't think you'll need it though
-
AWESOMENESS!!!
That's all, no need for more words.
-
Kit looks awesome with no kama vode!
-
We were just talking about your kit at our armor party yesterday and how much we love it!
-
Haha 8) glad to know that was really going for something that turns heads. I was accepted by the app team last Friday so of course as of the tradition of all new members I started small upgrades I added a skirt to my bucket but then started working on a project for my wife she dose not plan to become a member just wants to have a kit for Halloween with me and my sons who have a starwars theme of course (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/BBF16560-48D1-400A-8F16-FE0FBCDA87C4_zpsmv8kafhm.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/BBF16560-48D1-400A-8F16-FE0FBCDA87C4_zpsmv8kafhm.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/BDBD2F48-5B85-4734-8FE0-66BFDB049771_zpsbqmq1trm.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/BDBD2F48-5B85-4734-8FE0-66BFDB049771_zpsbqmq1trm.jpg.html)
-

-
Skeleton mando? Cool! Congratulations on the stripes vod, knew you would get them for sure!
-
Ok so here is the most recent update as I wait for th wonderful us postal service to bring me my blaster projects in the mail . I created a new girth belt one that truly can hold some girth and thus make sure all my blasters stay in place and help my back not hurt carting all of my junk :P (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/5D7D3FE6-6F6D-4F16-B2AC-5D0B9513E326_zpsnovptzht.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/5D7D3FE6-6F6D-4F16-B2AC-5D0B9513E326_zpsnovptzht.jpg.html)

-
That looks great! You got it done so fast too!
-
Thanks vod :D . Have been waiting for my new westtar 34 's to show up and decided I need a true gunslinger rig so in the style of jango I transformed my new girth belt into a pretty sweet double rig can't wait to get my new westtars in this bad boy (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/BCD9A2D9-3024-4DA5-81B5-A8774A42EDD1_zpskprpgono.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/BCD9A2D9-3024-4DA5-81B5-A8774A42EDD1_zpskprpgono.jpg.html) (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/BF14FA6D-24D3-4627-B20B-9FE39ECAF384_zpsnb0cdwvg.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/BF14FA6D-24D3-4627-B20B-9FE39ECAF384_zpsnb0cdwvg.jpg.html)
-
What did you use to attach cod to girth?
-
I used what's called boot liner leathe glued to the cod and then I have a special leather glue that attaches it to the girth belt . The leather strip allows me to sit down and my cod not get all wonky
-
Nice rig.
-
Thanks Russiya!
-
You're belts are freaking amazing!
-
Thanks vod  just deciding on what to do with my main pistol holster now I may move it up to my main belt instead of a drop or perhapse a cross draw huckleberry rig not to sure that would be confterbl in full armor though may try it out to see.Check out my project I just finished up though it is a jump pack inspired by commander Cody (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/C8927302-AC1A-409F-A36F-198BEC49CCA0_zpsed0qzqzp.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/C8927302-AC1A-409F-A36F-198BEC49CCA0_zpsed0qzqzp.jpg.html)

Looks fantastic vod!
-
Dang dude, just when I thought you couldn't get much better you do. Love your blaster rifle, great spin on a good design. You make anymore progress on your TK pauldron?
-
Your kit looks amazing. I love the details on it. Just one comment, you should do something about the Cod piece, unless of course you are just very excited to be wearing the awesome kit.

Just checking for some feedback on this ammobelt I have no idea what the cylinders were for some sort of 70's electronics just want to know if it looked like ammo (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/2C7CC28D-C47E-4DBB-A396-83AD7D2136EE_zps7y5dlv63.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/2C7CC28D-C47E-4DBB-A396-83AD7D2136EE_zps7y5dlv63.jpg.html)

That's exactly what I did for ammo reloads. Cool idea and works great for the build.

Those would be FS-2 florescent light fixture starters for fixtures that lacked ballasts. Great idea for a futuristic ammo.

Been quite some time with no post here but I have been working on the kit here and there and well I may need to register for a second membership because of how far the updates have gone. This is all metal armor I have been making i need to make a neck plate still and wait for my Rotj gaunts and cold cast bucket to come in I hope to have it finished before june (http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o758/edoller666/306014C3-296A-4B9D-B45C-5386BD457176_zpsetclnfwx.jpg) (http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/edoller666/media/306014C3-296A-4B9D-B45C-5386BD457176_zpsetclnfwx.jpg.html)

You shouldn't need to reapply. The only time you'd have to reapply is when you change characters (human to alien species) or if you change Eras (modern to Crusader).
Other than that, you're pretty much free to change & upgrade what you need/want, the Ruus'alors are supposed to keep an eye out for changes & upgrades to make sure their clan members still meet the requirements.
Oh & looking good btw :P
-
Yeah, check in with your Ruus. If your Ruus wants you to reapply, they'll ask you to do so.
Looking good!
-
Lookin mighty fine! I will miss the old chest plates with the skull though..
-
These plates will also have the skull but I ran out of steel and need to pick up some more to finish off the neck and cut out the skull I think I'm gong to reuse my sintra back plate though
-
Ah gotcha!
