The scans were smoothed over and filled but the 3d printer broke.  My printing guy is waiting for a replacement part.  I'm biting my nails waiting for them!

It's been a long time since I've posted an update.  A buddy of mine gave me these gloves that I think will be perfect for my build.  My only concern is that they are black.  Black and red were already parts of my original design as accents but I'm not entirely sure if these will pass muster with the app team.

I think those gloves are okay, you may want to cover either the red on the knuckles or the back of the hand with some sort of plating,

Another thing you can do is pull some of the dye out of the leather with acetone, to do this you just wipe the acetone cover the leather and then go back over it with some paper towels well the weather is still "wet" This will both weather the leather and in spots return the leather to its natural brown. Now with any type of weathering I suggest you practice some before you try as you can go overboard.

Also after you do this you have to use leather oil to put the fats back into the leather otherwise it will turn dry, crack and overall weaken.

Long time, no update!  I have one of my major hurdles getting handled.  The horns.  Jamburger in Teren Clan took the VERY rough scan I did and cleaned them up and started printing them.  The two side horns are finished and he is on to the top horn.  This is the biggest reason why my build has stalled.  Once I have these in hand I plan to go full throttle into the rest of the build.

Long time since my last update.  I've received my horns and got them mounted.   I think I have the placement of the side horns just right.  I'm drawing the design I think I want to go with for the eyebrow ridges and the random "lumps" down the center ridge to better emulate the Reek.  Next step is bondo around the visor, horns and lumps.















As always, any input or advise is greatly appreciated.

I have these blasters that were actually the very first thing I built for my current kit that I've never actually carried.   Since the bodies are very square and the barrels farely wide I was wondering if I could use them for my EC instead?  And what kind of mods, if any, I would have to make?

As for the blasters I would say modify them a touch more they look a bit to DL-44 and "civilized" in my book at the moment, so I would say just make them look a bit more ancient the few example blasters from the early crusader era are pretty bulk, look at the Mandalorian Ripper for example. Also remember than keeping blasters to a minimum is always a good idea with an Early Crusader kit melee weapons always over ranged with an EC

Thank you!  My primary weapons will be my spear from the first page of my wip and maybe a sword I've been working on.  I wasn't going to carry a blaster at all originally.  These just sprung into my head because I've never used them.

HELMET UPDATE - 7/31/17

Some light sanding and shaping of all the rough bondo.  Slowly getting there.

That's a great idea.  I'll see about giving everything a sanding with a rough grit sand paper or impact texturing rather than adding a thin layer of bondo.

Thank you!  Progress was at a stand still for a while as finances took a dive but I'm over the hump and hope to pick back up soon.  This helmet is staring me in the face every day so I have constant reminders to get back on it.

Wow, this looks great! I love the horns on the helmet. I also agree a light, thin layer of texture on the helmet and armor would look amazing and give you some additional areas for a wash to settle.

Now quit making backplates for everyone and get back to work on this.

You 100% need to texture the whole of the helmet, smooth surfaces like that aren't going to fly on an EC bucket. I would also suggest you add some texture to the hard edge of the visor as well.

Sounds good.  I'll start experimenting with textures on some scrap before I love to the helmet and plates.  Should I be aiming for light textures or Town of Bedrock level texturing?

My suggest is always look to natural examples for inspiration. So look at things like actual bone- which has countless little spots on it where muscle connected to, or things like crab shell or even stuff like pressed leaves.

Now in your case you have a single creature picked out already so just look at its hide as it has lots of good reference points for how you can texture things with this kit.

The long and the short of it is that you want the level of texture to look reasonable and natural. So given than you have the three horns on the bucket, you could for example have more texture in the areas surrounding the horn, than say the areas that are farther away. Like I said above it it reasonable and natural looking and you should be fine.
