Alternative buckle system
« on: Dec 02, 2015, 07:14 PM »
So, my mind starts working out the details of my future girth belt, already found most of the materials to build it but hit a mental block as to what to use as closures. Since quick release buckles, zippers etc. are not allowed. Or at the very least not visible.... So anyway I happened upon a lot of about 200 or so metal rings. Using that with leather strapping. So basically leather strapping sewn to material like molle loops. Using one of my molle vests for reference. The metal rings sewn onto end of leather strap. Using nylon webbing to illustrate. The retention device being a dart, in this case a chopstick. But gives an example of what is in my head.  Thoughts?

Parachute clips are allowed.  You can get them inexpensively at Joann, Michael's or even Wal-Mart.

D-rings and the metal rings like you have are also acceptable.

ok, just didn't want to use hillbilly overall snaps to hold my kit together. Might seek out some machined aluminum chopsticks to use. lol
