Knight's Armor WIP
« on: Dec 05, 2015, 08:48 PM »
So after searching the forum for several days, at this point ...since I am a big doode. 6'2" 135# a modern heavy armor kit is what I will be targeting. Looking to build an armor kit somewhere between Dresdin's heavy armor kit and this one. http://mandalorianmercs.org/forum/index.php?topic=88608.msg1307391#msg1307391 What I am wondering looking at the latter, the plates are attached together. If this is allowed it would make my build soooo much easier. Thoughts anyone? Also like how his base is a jacket that instead of a vest is basically a jacket with the sleeves shortened. Would this be acceptable as well? Making it more of a plate carrier that opens on the side? My plates would be bolted to the leather.

Yup, you can attach the plates to each other. Have you considered Legacy plates at all?

As for the vest, Talos's kit is approved, so it's definitely approvable :P Be aware that leather gets HOT, though. If you plan on modifying a jacket, make sure it doesn't have a front closure (sometimes you can turn a jacket backwards) and there's no lining (hot + adds bulk). Here's the link to Talos's build thread - there's no WIP pictures, but it does show what the jacket looked like before he modified it :)

Awesome Ty! That simplifies a lot of the areas of my Kit for me. In that build that was approved I could see the zipper on his pants and a few things that were nit picked on others outfits but I will make sure to hide mine.

It's not a zipper, it looks like a pocket in the leather pants. Hidden zippers are approvable, but visible zippers will get called out.

...man thats got to be hot in there...

It's spelled "Canon", not "Cannon".

(SHHH!!! I found the secret to getting OM approved!)

It probably would be fairly warm down south but I am about an hour north of your north most border. The next Comic-com is end of April- beginning of May. Still should be snow on the ground. Can always duck of for a cool off. Lol. The jacket I found looks a lot like his. Sweet.
