OK, so bit a jumpy update now, I didn't take many photo's as I was going along as I was too busy just trying to get through the list of jobs.

So Jetpack is painted up


This is the backplate modification required to fit them together


The Cod is affixed to the belt with a wide piece of Velcro


Boot plates painted, weathered and coated as per the other leg plates.
The reference images for these are sparse, so I matched the ones I could and then appropriated the weathering as per the other leg plates


So at this stage I did a test kit up to see what's what.

Note: I was dressed by a (sleepy) family member for this first test fit. For real application photo's I will be seeking out another Merc to ensure my plates placement and spacing are all correct and photo's as per requirements

Wow.....you've levelled up. That's some nice work. You are all making me want a second kit now ive finished the small persons.

The only things Im seeing (which im sure you have totally got covered) Is the back of the knees need to come In, are you elastic'ing or stitching to taper? Also the bottoms of the trousers, at the ankle need tucking into the boots at the ankle more to create the right shape, or again elasic'ing or stitch taper to bring them in.

Did you cold water plunge the flack vest?

In the Clone wars they don't have any attachment methods. They just "float" on the legs. Currently the knees have been heatshaped to the size of my leg and are currently velcro'd onto the suit. Same with the shin plates.

I agree with the leg length. Now I have the plates and weight on it I need someone to pin them for me so I know where to turn them up to. They need to sit over the boot but finish before overlapping the heel plate.
I may need to look into tailoring the leg slightly more at the bottom. It is finding the point between having them tailored to stop them flapping whilst still being able to sit down to rest my back when required.

The vest I cold water plunged it a few times followed by a few vigorous goings over with the iron. It really shrunk down after that.

Right, home stretch here

Backplate has been padded out (soooo much more comfortable now it's not digging into my back with those nuts)


Toe caps built up upon the rubber and (after this) reshaped to match the reference photos


The soft parts have been dusted and oversprayed with varying layers of light grey, dark grey and black


Spacing of plates was addressed, harness (which isn't visible) has all been corrected and the jetpack straps shortened. Sitting much better on my back now. So onto my new set of pre-app photos. In true British sense it was sunny all day... until I got kitted up. Then it rained for the next 6 hours so had to be indoor shots.
