Hey there everyone, this next project is in line with the drones that AGConstrux is making (darth maul probe droid that "floats" on clear material). I want put a camera inside of it, the kind that records video. This would be for cons and parades and really all events. It would be great for sharing the videos for both recruitment and just reliving memorable moments. It would also serve to have recordings of anything crazy that happens in the event of he said she said incidents.

So Basically I'm left with two options. Attach something to the outside of the drone leaving the lights inside the droid operational.

Or I can gut the inside and cut out a portion of the lens to have the camera record safety inside the droid.


Either way I'm looking for advice and links to cameras that might work for this and anyone else's experiences in the matter.

I actually have a Mini Sony Action Cam inside the droid that sits on my shoulder. It has a Wifi connection and an app I've downloaded to my phone to view live video. Only issue I've run into at the moment is the batteries last about 45min max. Works great though, I'm just looking for a good program to edit videos myself now so I can post

That sounds like a great start. 45 minute battery life seems low but I'm sure I could take a docking station to charge it up between rounds or what not. But it gives me an idea of what to grow off of.

Yes, battery life is low....not sure why...maybe constant running, could be getting "hot" inside the droid...don't know

The one issue I have is that it kinda takes me de-kitting entirely to get to the droid/camera...thinking of making a small hole in the back that I can plug something into so I can then plug a portable charger in when needed for an extra boost.

That's what I was considering, maybe an external charger or something along those lines.

You could also hook up an external 'extra' battery pack to it as well, run a control cable down to your kit itself.

That is something I was thinking. Like a pouch on the belt that holds the battery and I could switch out with other batteries.

Could also look into a sister pouch where it stores the footage. I'm not too savy with this kind of stuff but I think it sounds realistic.

I don't want to have the wire visible, and the "stand" I've used is fairly compact as is...but could look at redesigning a new one with room inside for a wire to run down. Thanks for the idea of external battery.
