No but it's a good idea on most builds for structure when bondoing.

Here's my latest updates to my bucket. Sanded and added Spot Putty but I don't have that pic yet. More to come!

From the beginning and from your clan thread I saw this build (hi I'm Bowfanny I'm a Luurker) and I can honestly say your progress is amazing Vod. Seriously, your build will be something to hold pride in your kit. Seriously the only piece of my original kit that I couldn't let go when I sold my kit due to my weight loss was my scratch built. It's a glorious experience when you tell people that you made your helmet starting with paper, some cardboard and lots of love and sanding.

Thanks! I'm Jake and I appreciate your kind words. Honestly, I'm actually quite surprised myself at how I only started with paper. My kids are amazed as well. I never knew building could be done in my garage or I would've started long ago. hahahaha I'm only about 40% done with my bucket but you're right, I already have a since of pride in my work. Thanks again!

More updates... Finished Spot Putty and sanding. Then I just cut out the visor.

Looking good Vod, the lines on your helmet are looking nice and clean, certainly better than mine was at this stage.

If mine turned out as good as it did (modesty is one of my strong points), then I think yours will turn out looking amazing.

Excited to see some updates once its painted.

Here are a few updates. I cut out my T visor and edged everything. I also started on my ear caps out of styrofoam, sounds strange but I tested the bondo on it and I believe it will hold up nicely. The styrofoam is really light and cheap on my wallet since I already have some on hand. Anyways here are some pics...

Wonder if the resin I use would melt that or make a nice shell on the outside of it.

It's been a bit since I've shared updates for my bucket due to being busy. Here's a few pics, added my rangefinder electronics. Nothing crazy special, but as a electronics noob, I'm very proud of my work thus far. 

BTW... Don't mind the star patterned strap, use one of my daughter's old shoes. hahahaha

Alright! Here is my latest update. I kinda had a major set back as the base of my rangefinder broke. I had to do emergency repairs, but I did get it fixed. I know my bucket isn't perfect and I'm okay with that since it's a completely scratch build.

It isn't painted yet, but I believe I'm finally ready to start. Everything is sanded and ready to go. Whatcha guys think??
