So I have finally ventured into the realm of making gauntlets from scratch. Had to work it out on paper a bit before I got to cutting my sintra and gluing it all together. I have managed to collect a big assortment of greebs since I have started on this journey of kit making last summer (wowzers! almost 1 year).
I wanted to do something as bit out of the norm and make slip on gaunts. Not that I don't like the idea of piano hinge, would rather not worry about 3mm sintra getting beaten up in the process.
Made paper templates and then drew out the basic cuff design.

Now to bring the heat! Put on my flight suit and gloves to ensure a good fit. Snug but not too tight so I can't fit my hand through. Remember ad'ika clamps are your best friend, especially when working alone!

Next step was to plan out where the heck everything was going to be mounted. Being blessed with a ton of aircraft parts and misc automotive switches/buttons from a recent trip to the hardware store, I laid everything out to get a rough idea of the overall look. Since I wanted the switched to be functional still, I needed to drill holes and internally mount the bits. Planning out where things fit before cutting/drilling is very important! Once that was good, and I had settled on a plan of action, the dremel came out to play-yyaaaayyyyyy! Made sure to trim everything on the cuffs too.

An afternoon of patient work, cutting, drilling, and sanding I was able to get the main assembly completed on these lovely little delivery systems of mayhem. The bottom has been fitted with a flat piece of sintra to make adhesion easier to the gaunt. I will still need to block out the sides to join everything completely before I can finish up with more sanding and the bondo.

To confirm I was going for a quick burst flame thrower on the left side, along with a blaster weapon and smaller stun weapon for those annoying "must be kept alive" bounties. The right side has 5 small missiles loaded with killy goodness ready to deploy at the touch of a button!
More pics to come. Please feel free to chime in with C&C as always! Oya!
