It's always exciting to see another super commando build!!  8)

Hik'aari has an AMAZING super commando, and can be an invaluable source of help and inspiration during your build...it also doesn't hurt that he's a very helpful and nice guy.  So please take what he says constructively.   :)

I will try to do my best with my poor english :)

The shins on all of the SC builds I have seen so far have been symmetrical, what source/patterns are you working from showing asymmetry?[/li]
My pattern is from Fierfek, if you check you re muscular from calf, there is no symettry,  Best visual in my opinion with asymmetry. If you look at the zoom picture, me i see an asymmetry

  • Are you planning on opening up the visor slot more? I appreciate the helmet is in its early stages but I don't want to see lots of work going in and it not to be correct.

Sure, it s not open yet :) It will be the last thing i will do because welding twist the metal and move it.

  • Have you had your chest patterns checked for shape and size by anyone? Whilst the angles in between the chest plate and ab plate are nicely squared off the collar plate is incorrect. It does not have the bottom edge curve. It is a flat cut and matches the entire width of the chest plates once they are mounted. The overall width of the collar/chest plates on the Super Commando is also typically wider than a standard Mando build. Its spacing is based upon your vest side so it looks visually correct to the source.

It will fit for me, i will grind the collar to have it flat, thanks for the advice

  • Do you have a better photo of your belt and steel plates? What material is the belt made from? The steel plates you have made are meant to mimic "ammo pouches" so are going to have to be completely blackened and checked for damage to ensure the steel surface does not break through. Also it is important to get the "center square cut" pieces on the outer edges of your hips. The dimension and height of all of these pieces needs to be based on your height to give the correct visual reference. The plates are not placed in the center of the belt either btw.

Plate will be painted charcoal, under large belt is in leather, another one different, less large will be on it with the plate, i ve got the center square cut piece.

  • Do you have any further pictures of the Jetpack? It looks like the base layer has a semi-circle top design which is incorrect for the SC. They have a triangular top shaped JP. It also looks like pieces are missing in your photo so having a hard time piecing it together in my head

Print is in progress, it s a J-12 jetpack , will look like this model
Please don't take this as disheartening, I am trying to get in and help in the early stages before months of work goes into something that is not to spec.
No problem, thanks for you help

The asset picture you linked in your first post is also not a great reference to work from. In episode images are best as it did change between asset, promotional materials and the animation itself.

Let me know if you want any photo references etc. as within the UK we have both canon brigade cleared Captains and Grunts. I can link to both our source materials and our build threads.

Yes, it will be great

Sorry for double posting, i didn t know that rule

What is your native language?

Ok, I have checked Fierfek out and looked at his patterns. For both the Super Commando Grunt and Captains he has made symetrical shin plates. As this will be a canon application you will need to find and provide evidance that they are asymetrical for them to be approved. I have checked my reference images from when I built mine too.

I do not think that just grinding the collar will be enough. The chest plates are really wide.

This is one of the clearer images available of the captain, there are not too many. His spacing is practically identical to the grunts.

As you can see the width of the chest and collar plates go to within 2cm of the vest seam.

This is the clearest/largest photos I can get to show it on mine. My spacing is slightly out as what this photo does not show is I am holding my helmet under my left arm.

So with that in mind I think you are looking at more like this. That is presuming that your chest plates are wide enough to perfectly fill your vest too.

*****
For your belts you will need to find a way of disguising the smaller belt the plates are mounted on. The visual reference is only two layers, the large Girth belt with the ammo boxes on top. You will also need to find a way to heat and curve each of the plates so they form to your body. We will still need to see a picture once they are mounted to ensure the squares are all in the correct places.

*****
Whilst that Jetpack is close there are some differences.

So the top edge of the Jetpack is not one line. It is made from 4 lines.

It is sort of possible to make out here:

You can also see it in this side angle here where the Jetpack top almost looks like a triangle

Here is my Jetpack showing it too

Your main Jetpack rocket may be close enough to be accepted, I am unsure. The reference material has it as more like the side toppers where the body tapers in and then its a really defined cone on top.

The central bottom exhaust is also a different design to the one with that Jetpack

Overall I would encourage you to compare your jetpack against the reference material for accuracy.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or queries you mau have. If I cannot help with something I am sure there are many people in the community will be able to. All that any of us want to see if more Mercs joining our community. Unfortunately Canon builds will always gander more scrutiny though.

I'm actually working hard on the helmet, need to fix horns properly and the visor need more cut.
Need to do some TIG Welding to have a better finish. I can actually just do that at my job, I am only equipped with semi auto MIG apparel.

I have made some paint on it just for fun, to see how it react on metal and minor default

I actually changed my mind, i love that helmet with horns, but i just can t wear the lower parts. i had made the full set and i really don't like it,
So i had turn it into a custom set, still in metal .
