Started on weather my boots, sort of going boba Fett style....abit
Started out with a grey, dark at front and darker at the bottoms
Other colours will be added, some Browns and black
The sole will be dirtied in time
This is just the start

Bit more done

Went darker at front, thinking that'll get the most stained from charred material, may lightly dust for final stage

Here's abit of the start of flightsuit weathering
Some colours look abit off in the pic, I used a brown that looks a bit red to pinkish
It's just a start, it's a big job trying to get to look right and a big area to focus on, I choose the front waist down at this stage. Thinking of where would get what wear

The tools in the pockets were put in to fill out pockets, hoping to show off areas wear grime would gravitate to
There's added filth to those areas as well, my thinking maybe there's something on the tools as he's put them away

Bit more done

Tried an experiment for my girth belt today, using cotton corn and twine, and pva glue. I'm still waiting to find buckles so I just wrapped the frayed ends around a tube, then glue and wrap twine around.....see how that holds

I'm impatient to make this girth belt

That weathering is looking great! You're doing a great job at keeping consistent weathering on your kit. I know the app team will be happy to see that!

Side note, I just read through your helmet thread... We need a jaw dropping emoji! You're nailing this build! Well done vod!

Bit of a quick update, I got some belt buckles today and started on my girth belt adventure
I got a bit done, 3 lengths of cord attached. This method is going to be bulky and messy
Not sure if I'll continue this way.....did give me an idea for a trophy though
I have another method in mind for girth elit, that may be quicker and tighter
I'll let you in on that method soon
This is where I got to, going to be a squeeze getting 7 cords in there, tight wrapping the twine around the cord and messy working in the glue

Damn. That is gonna be a push hey?! Have you considered a thinner cord for your belt? That would probably allow for the method you're using. But i also understand the need to not pour even more cash into your build haha

I can't recall if what I'm using is 7mm cord or 8mm, there is thinner, maybe an option. I could pick up some of the thinner cord, I ordered more hog rings as I need some anyway for redoing seats on my van
Thanks for the ideas Cap

Made some progress on girth belt today, hog rings came in, has the pliers ready and

Had to clean up the ring ends as they're sharp, I'll tidy them up, I think I'll wrap some of the cord with twine and glue.....but, I not sure if I dye the girth would soaking it wash out the glue?

I need to make another like that and join to this one
I bet you could do the same method using cable ties

On the flightsuit? I used an airbrush, washed flightsuit, most of paint washed out, except the dark at the bottom
I reapplied with acrylics, I used grey, black, some brown, and orange
I will use some "kiwi" brand shoe "scuff self shining polish", it's a liquid shoe polish. I'll use this at bottom the soak through seams, may use it as well on shoe soles a bit
Shoes need more work, I'll add spikes when I get to that, also thinking of applying mud, not real, either brown or orange/ brown
Hope I've answered your question vod

May have to try that out when I get to my flightsuit. Your weathering is some of the best I've seen. ;) In my opinion, good weathering is what makes or breaks a costume.

Thanks vod, I'm just learning, I was going to try chalk, but couldn't find any. I was also thinking of trying coffee grounds, wasn't sure how to make permanent as never used before
I try focus on the weathering, I agree 100% with you, and small little things, little details, they all add up.
Good weathering makes it appear believable

Small update on boot, starting to add some mud, around here the soil is an orange brown colour. So I'm trying to add the to the front area.....mud, dust and dirt stained over time
So far just started with orange, still need to add more to the top of toes

Loving the ultisol look so far.

Thanks vod, may add it patches of dark and light, I plan on toe spikes, weather those, and thinking of adding some chunks of dirt / mud to the area
Also thanks for teaching me a new word

I've been wanting to do that too, but can't think of how. You got any ideas?
