Good day all! I have finally got off my shebs to start working on more of a kit than I have in the past. All it took was a focus, and finding, with some help, that I can make something that's pretty awesome. I had my focus a little elsewhere , but now that I know I have some useful skills, I'm putting them to work!

With where my mind was distracted this summer, and the realization of a life long adoration of the golden age of piracy, I'm incorporating it into my kit. Thankfully, this lines me up beautifully for the Privateer profession in the brigades. I also have a start with my flightsuit and jacket(sleeveless)...

Yes, there's a form of boot on my legs... Also happens to be the sleeves of the jacket! Waste not, want not, and all that jazz...

So! After that was out of the way, I have some shoes being transformed into boots, but that's for talk later... I have a vest to work on!

Started with a PT shirt that I wasn't using and also fit over my suit comfortably enough, and then I cut it up to make a template for the vest:

Cut the shoulders off, pinned what I deemed excess on the shirt under, and pinned to material, et voila:

Spin, wash, rinse, repeat for the back of the shirt. Cut both sides out,  and I sewed the 2 sets of fronts and backs to a mate so I'm left with an inner and outer layer. Tried it on, and had a snug fit past the ears, but the shoulder from the neckhole cut looks awesome pinned like that. All from canvas:

Threw on some stiff interfacing to the front of the inside layer, and Houston, we have a problem:

Just a tad too wide...

And making me look a lot like this:

My solution:

Need some input here, as I think I have the answer, but not 100% sure.

Got a sash in for this specifically, and loving it. Gotta love roommates, because I got this pic. Vest is incomplete, and is eventually going to be a brown faux suede look, but this is what I currently have:

Edit: Found what I want to use as my pouches:

An update is in order. Here's where I got to last night. It's the outer layer to the vest, but I'm not sewing the layers together until I get plates ready to figure out how I'm mounting them.

Bonus shots, boots that I've had for a while:

I might keep the jacket, or I'll be modifying it into a kama. Looking into a kama anyways.
