My idea is a dual brigade, Recon and Comm Spec, with the character concept of being something similar to USAF Tactical Air Control Party, or TACP.  These guys are bad shebs special ops, that combine recon, forward observation, air strike calls from all different branches.  Inserting either from parachute or boot leather, and getting deep behind enemy lines. 

So for comm spec, I need an obvious communications pack. 
(I promise I will get pics uploaded when I can, doing all the documentation with my phone.)

Starting off, instead of my ALICE frame, I'm using a similar frame from a Boy Scout pack.  It's a bit smaller than the ALICE, but that's fine as I still want to have my backplate visible.

For the bulk of the pack, I use two different Sterlite brand plastic storage boxes.  The top one is their Shoe box, the bottom is slightly deeper, but the length and width are about the same.  This style has the handles that snap over the lid to secure it.  Lids on both containers are not being used, and the handles for the bottom box have been removed.
I have the boxes temporarily installed​ with zip ties, but will eventually have them bolted to the frame.

From there, it's all about the greeblies.  For the upper box, I have a series of LED lights that will be wired up, and eventually will install a cooling fan, and I want some sort of display screen.  But for now, it's LEDs on the face.
On top, I have a few odd industrial bits.  No idea what they are, but have them installed in a triangulated sensor array.  Once pictures are posted, you'll see they look like short range antenna.  On the side, I have another greebly, an impact sensor.  It also looks like an antenna.  Eventually, I'll have a long antenna mounted to the frame itself.

Transitioning to the bottom box, I have a pill box, the type used for seven days.  I cut the lids off and bolted the flat part to the bottom of the upper box, then nestled the lower box to sit just below that.

The focal point of the lower box is more industrial scrap.  Looks like a dual port attachment.  I also have a few LEDs installed in this half.  On the side, I have a reflective target for a photo eye, like what you'd have on a bicycle to be seen at night. 

So, it's pretty basic right now.  It still needs paint, weathering, and of course, more greeblies. 

Future plans:
Cooling fan, pointing and angled at the back of my neck.
Display screen.
Noise generator playing comm chatter files.

Photobucket is not being cooperative, so I'll just leave it with these. 
I have a few antennas added, as well as an amp meter.  It's about ready for paint, as I'm about done adding greeblies.  When/ if photobucket decides to play nice, I'll get more pics loaded and posted. 
I have plans for adding a Bluetooth speaker to play comm chatter files from my phone, and adding a cooling fan.  I'm currently working on my wiring diagram for the electronics, but that's boring.

I've been considering using that brigade combo to guide my upcoming build, but can't make up my mind.

I'm calling this 98% done.  Still need to put some Aurabesh letters on the buttons and weather the frequency dial (currently set at 1138, will change it to my OM number when the time comes.

Love the LEDs do you mind sharing how you put those together they have  a very New Hope aesthetic to it

The frame is from a Boy Scout pack.
The boxes are plastic storage bins from Wal-Mart. 
Most of the greeblies are junk salvaged from work or stuff I had laying around. 
The LESs are 24VDC industrial modules, wired to a 9volt battery pack.  Top has one that runs the lights and cooling fan, bottom has another that runs just LEDs.

I took inspiration from Endor Commando packs and Sand Trooper packs.
