This is for my first armor set ever.
I got my NME Mercenary this month and am eager to get working on it!

Ooooo a Mercenary from NME. I haven't seen a build thread for one of those yet. Stalkers, Assassins, Deathstalkers but no Mercenaries. Looking forward to this one. I like your color scheme. Should look great.

I abandoned the brushed metal idea for now and just went for a complete metal coat. I added the masking fluid for weathering.

Here it is ready for paint!


After 2 coats of both colors.


Now with weathering! Just need a sealer and black wash after putting it all together.

Got the ears glued on.


And the face! I painted the Borden and did a little more weathering.


Still working on the range finder. Then needs a blackwash and sealant. My T-visor was a tad short so I ordered a replacement welding visor on Amazon. It fits wonderfully with Chicago screws. Need to get a pic of the inside.

It sounds pretty cool, like you're talking through a radio system and I like how the sound comes from the helmet and not an amp in a pocket.
I did have some issues with feedback and I'm not sure I have it mounted the best.
I have the mic on the right cheek and transducer at the top corner of the dome and I have to wear it before turning it on or I get a nice squeal  :o
The volume doesn't seem to be very loud, but I've only tested it in a room setting, not at a con. My placement may be bad for that.
I'll try it out at Phoenix Comicon next weekend and see how it performs.
