Have some good ideas for a fun build.  Have a nice scope and new weaver mounts to add as well.  Was able to transplant sounds and a barrel led over from another rifle. 
Here are some early pics to build some structure and strength for the conduit barrel.

Replaced all the bolts with real M3 allen heads, barrel is conduit and tan pvc, Put in a sound light system from a cool sounding dollar store find.  The weaver rails and the scope were cheap on amazon.  Pictures are not great, but it turned out pretty cool.  Certainly the gun of a mercenary.

Talking with a OM friend, seems like there might still be a few to many "nerfy" things for this to pass.  So I cut the trigger guard off and am making a new bottom handle to get rid of the triangles.  I am also building a new butt section.  Hopefully this will be enough mods.  It doesn't leave much nerf left.  lol

Yeah, the big thing to keep in mind with a Nerf mod is that if any particular part sticks out as Nerf, it'll get kicked back. My first weapon was built off that exact same Nerf gun base and it would never pass muster these days. You're off to a good start though!

I love what you did, and how you incorporated the triangle with plating instead of cutting it off and made it your own.  That area looks like your's instead of nerf's now

Got the new stock installed.  Made a could little plates.  That is about a de-nerfed as I can get it without it actually firing.

There are still a few bits that are recognizably Nerf to me, but that's probably just familiarity with the base gun. You've done excellent work converting it into something troopable.
