If anyone has comments or questions on the new CRL's for Crusader and Neo Crusader Era Mandalorians, this is the thread to post them.

Granted that I'm not the final say on making helmets and costuming - there are several good builders here - will what I have been doing for the Neo Crusader helmet kit be considered in the CRL's?

Your helmet is essentially the archtype for a successful Neo Crusader build at the moment. After all the research and work done on it, mine and the councils opinion is that you've essentially set the standard for what a Neo Crusader helmet should be. My opinion is that I would recommend that people building Neo's use your helmet as the base. If someone wanted to scrathbuild their own, their's would likely be compared to yours as the standard for makeup and appearance. From your helmet design, item's such as macrobinocs, spotlamps, antenna's visors etc could be added.

Not to limit the color selection, but why green? I'm just wondering where that came up as a color choice for neo's? Everything I have read says Blue / Red / Gold were the colors used for the neo's. Is it cause of Demgol? Just currious where the soucre material for the green neo's comes from.

Have a good one,
Hagen

if you look in the reference pix library for neo's, you will see a few green neo's from the kotor comics. since it was canonized in the comics, we'll accept it as a color for application.

The late Era Crusaders had just about any color they wanted, so it's your choice.

And I'm not a mod or a council member, but I'm gonna go with no, modern chest plates on a late Crusader would not be acceptable. The trailer for SWTOR wouldn't be considered cannon, and I doubt the standards will be changed already just based on a two-second clip in a trailer for a game that might end up as sort of outside-continuity, like SWG. Then again, it may become retconned cannon, we'll have to wait and see.

Yep, any color within reason will be ok but modern chest armor isn't going to fly.

Heheh, always good to check.

There's a lot of room for customization on the late-era Crusaders though, I think the only real requirement on the torso is for back armor and full chest coverage, and that it doesn't resemble modern ori'ramikade plates, so other than that the sky is pretty much the limit.

I'm planning on going a similar route; a late era Crusader with some throwbacks to the early era, some 'bone' plates, some beskar. I've already started on a few pieces, but I'm still stubbornly trying to perfect my Neo-Crusader chest plate first :P. It's pretty much the only piece I have left for the NC.

PS: Mand'alor...does that mean no hot-pink Crusader armor? :P

I'm just curious as to if I could have a modern helm but a late-era Crusader suit?

The CRL's specifically say that no modern era armor is acceptable for Crusader and Neo Crusader builds. Now, you could buy a modern helmet and mod it so heavily that it no longer resemebled a Fett helmet but, the ammount of work and cost involved in that would probably make it easier to just scratchbuild one. If you look through these threads, you will see a couple of scratchbuilds, also Getal Gra;tua did a great scratchbuild on his Early Era Crusader. If you look at Larc's helmer in the modern era Mando's it could be a KOTOR era easily. He built it from a hockey mask and some sintra.

As for colors, any referenced can be used. Any similar to can be used. It it's totally out of universe or out of era I would avoind it.

Again, as stated in the SWTOR thread, nothing about SWTOR will be considered canon or effect our CRL"s until LFL has created a canon stryline for it, if they do. At which time we will reevaluate.

Additionally, as Slade has mentioned in teh SWTOR thread, SWTOR is set about 300 years after the conclusion of the major events from KOTOR. So, the crusader movement has been dead for 400-500 years by that time and likely the Neo Crusader movemet is dead as well.

The presence of the suspected Mandalorian in modern era armor, is in my opinion only, an Easter egg lik ethe same was done in the KOTOR comics. An Easter Egg of a dead Mandalorian armor very similar to Boba Fett's is seen on the battlefield. Again, that was done as an Easter Egg by the artists not as literal canon.

As a side note on KOTOR  Era helmets...

This is my opinion only but, a helmet such as Mand'alors (Novall Talon) or Ick'tans Mandalorian Commando bucket have enough variation from teh standard Fett helmet that although we accept them for modern era applicants, I think they would be a great match for this, KOTOR era, as well. In fact, Ick'tan's would be an awesome base for it!
