WIP - Buzzkill Legacy (Privateer aimed)
« on: Jan 20, 2018, 12:56 AM »
So for my third official kit I'm building a Medium Legacy aimed at the privateer brigade.

I'm already a good way into this build and I'm finally getting around to making a WIP thread for it so this will just be a mass picture dump with info from when I started certain parts of this project back in October.

First off, here is the legacy plate progress. (Shoulder armor still being worked on, just not fully shown)

Cut

Shaped

Next are some of the accessories.

Going with a custom sawn off breaching shotgun I'm dubbing the "Mutli Tool". As it utilizes different types of single shot shells it can switch between specialty rounds including but not limited to: Scattershot, High Explosive, Sabot round, Ion round, and smoke grenades. The paint isn't finished and theres some more greeblies to be added to it.

Here's some example of the shells the "Multi Tool" takes (High Explosive)

I found these boots at a local thrift store and felt they had a nice privateer/smuggler feel to them. They will get some shin armor to cover them.

This is the original helmet I had planned to use for this build (Custom scratch build helmet) but I may end up keeping it for a display unit and switch over to my hellraiser helmet.

This is a custom designed and 3D printed jetpack that I made (and designed) that I may be using for this kit, or may not.

Next is a piece that some of you may have seen floating around, and is really my prize of this whole build. Lots of time and work went into this. I present my Prosthetic style robotic arm build which I am dubbing the "Basilisk War Arm".

I'm planning on infilling the gaps with bits of conduit, wire and other greeblies, as well as some EL wire veins. This isn't how I plan to mount it, just an example.

Looks really cool! I'd recommend grooves in the plates and putting the el-wire more snug in-between the plates. Just a suggestion, watching with interest  ;D

For sure! just had it rigged up at one point just for an example idea. Im still heavily playing around with the greeblies and details of the arm.

Today my Rub N Buff care package came in so I got to work on my arm, as well as attaching the armor to my gloves. I'm still missing a third armor plate on my index and ring finger which I'll get to eventually.

And here's some pictures of my hellraiser helmet with some modifications I'm planning on doing to it. custom ears, filling in the brow detail (not 100% decided on that yet) and additional armor plating along the bottom of the helmet on the bottom of the cheeks

It's hard to tell from the profile pic, but you might not need the 4th lame on your ab.  Can we see it from the front when you get a chance?  And this is a very intriguing build.  I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Here is a front profile. The Green tape shows where my navel is. I trimmed the last lame a bit with a radius to kind of pick it up a bit.

Didn't get to do much work on the armor this weekend however I went to a gun collectors show and snagged some great leather pieces, thing I was hoping most to find was a bandolier, and I did! A 1942 stamped Australian 303 Enfield bandolier! Also found some old school law enforcement leather belts and pouches. The Girth belt I'm weaering is not the one I'll be using for this kit, It's from a previous OM kit. The girth belt for this kit is actually in the picture under the belts as it's WIP. The belt on my waist  will not be the one I use for this kit either, It's just acting as a placeholder until my custom belt, pouches, and holster are made!

Bandolier

Got my Girth belt done today... First attempt failed using the "Easy girth belt tutorial" which involves you hot gluing your cord to burlap.. tried a similar method but when I dyed my belt I tried to keep the temperature of the water below the melting point of the glue but it still managed to creep up and get too hot.. so Forewarning, pre dye your cord!

Second attempt yielded successful results. Pre dyed my cord in Bordeua color dye to give it a purple/red color. I used a sewing method this time around and I'm fairly happy with the outcome, especially since I absolutely hate sewing... For the fasteners I used two cheap leather belts I bought at Canadian Tire and just cut off the hook and tongue ends and sewed them into the belt.

Don't mind the super messy work station....tis a temporary setup..

Little bit jealous of your girth belt skills vod, not gonna lie.

And that work area looks a bit cleaner then mine usually does!

I need to learn a thing or two from this girth belt. You have any more pictures of the assembly? I can't seem to figure it out.

I didnt take any other pictures of it during construction... its super rough on the backside lol. Essentially I combined a regular girth belt construction with the "Easy girth belt" method

Took 5mm Cotton clothesline, cut into 36" pieces amd then dyed it. Grabbed some finish color fabric and hemmed it into end panels... the straps are cheap canadian tire belts that I chopped up and then sewed into the end panels...
I'll have to make a second belt for someone else and properly catalogue it.. i really stumbled and winged it on this one.

Small update, got around to modifying the flight suit and sleeve underarm for the cybernetic arm, now it appears that the arm is a sealed unit with the flight suit as per regulations for Privateer brigade.
