Female Legacy Armor from a Fencing Protector

One of the easiest ways to make a chest plate for a bustier female is to use a preformed plastic fencing protector as a base. This tutorial will show you how we did just that for a Legacy styled kit.

Getting Started & Your Template

The first step is to purchase a well fitting fencing protector:

Then draw out a collar and ab plates to match the curves of the protector:

Next, cut out the rest of your armor from sintra:

Fill In the Holes & Paint

Then sand the plastic down, tear off any foam backing it might have and tape up the holes from behind. Fill in the holes on top with bondo. Here’s the chestpiece with the collar, the first coat of bondo on:

At this point we did a bit of a test fit to make sure we wouldn’t need to make any alterations to the chestpiece before continuing:

Drill your holes for your chicago screws/rivets for your strapping, then continue on with the bondo. I bondoed the back as well for added stiffness, but if I had it to do over again I would coat the back with shop towels and resin in a version of fiberglassing instead.

Now sand, bondo spot putty, sand, bondo spot putty, sand, bondo spot putty, until you’re happy with it. Then use filler primer:

And wet sand it until it’s smooth between coats until you’re happy with the results. Then paint and assemble like a regular kit!

Summary

Hopefully by following this tutorial you too will soon be able to admire your new legacy styled female chest plates!
