Hi all!
So the past few months I got a 3D printer and after getting to grips with it decided I now had everything I needed to start my first full Mando build. I purchased files for The Matriarch helmet by AlterEgoArmoury and printed my bucket which I'll put a picture of further down. I still have some sanding and painting to do and the visor to fit, but it's going pretty well. I've decided to go for Modern armour as The Matriarch fits requirements for that. I'm planning on doing an orange and white colour scheme as a little nod to Ahsoka Tano. I'll post a photo of a little edit I did of the helmet art with the colours too.
Colour scheme idea for helmet:
I have purchased some PVC foam board to make the bulk of my armour out of and used this as the basis for my templates, with a few tweaks to fit my body (I did the clingfilm and masking tape around yourself route) if people could tell me if this will fit costume requirements for Modern that would be great. I was going to 3D print some death watch gauntlets, would that be acceptable?
I've ordered colour matched base layers, gym type tights and a turtle neck base layer shirt to go underneath everything, just waiting on that to arrive. I decided on this over a boilersuit as the boilersuit wasn't form fitting and two pieces would be easier on longer troops. I can definitely give the illusion it's a one piece flight suit and will post photos when it arrives. I also have a flak vest currently being made and again will post photos once it's finished.
For weapons I've so far printed Cara Dune's side arm as my small blaster, but unsure if I'll use it for this or not. The good thing about having my own printer is that those kinds of props are pretty easy to sort.
